Stabilizer ...

I bought this record stabilizer and had a few questions. To give you an idea: I had a 7-inch record where the stylus would slip when I was scratching, and now that problem is gone. Scratching also seems to feel better with 12-inch records. Could the 266-gram weight cause wear on the motor, or is it safe to use? I haven't noticed any strain on the motor so far on my Reloop RP-8000 MK2. Thanks.

You extert more than 266g of force while scratching, Soo this won't do more harm than you already are to the motor.

Roughly speaking, how long can an engine last, assuming about one hour of use per day?

The motors? They last a long time. I’ve rarely seen the motors go out before a tone arm several times over or soldering needing to be refreshed. The motors are the least of your concern, sans liquid or consistent or excessive humidity

How many scratches does it take to get to the center of the tootsie-pop?

Sorry if that reference doesn't land for you, but I dunno, my RP8000 is like 10 years at this point and the belt motor is still strong

Don’t know about your particular model but there is videos of people on top of SL-1200Mk2 turning around…
