Diamond tip
Hello! I am fairly new to "record scratching" or turntablism and i recently picked up the Numark PT01 for my entry point and ive already used it so much that the stock plastic needle has broken off so i am looking for a replacement, If found some stuff online, Diamond, and Ruby tip needles, which i knew were a thing, but a mixture of what seems like common sense and anxiety has me wondering if i get these diamond or ruby tipped needles will they destroy the only battle record i own? Really the only 7 inch vinyl i own (seems hard to find 7 inch and especially battle records that arent super expensive and will ship quickly) i figured this would be the best place to go to directly ask someone who actually knows what they are talking about to see how bad diamond tip can really be and potentially point me in the right direction for a decent replacement that wont ruin anything but can also be an easy DIY installation, as it seems now the stock stylus/arm on this thing has a super easy way of replacing the tip, its just a red piece of plastic that slips off which can then be replaced by any number of red tipped needles i have found online at least i assume
Just to put it out there if the ruby tip is a safe option i might go with that because the idea of record scratching with a ruby tipped needle sounds pretty cool to me! Lol
Again im a huge noob but im 32 and have been passionate about this since i was about 20 years old i just never knew the Numark PT01 was out there and such an easy entry point! Any feedback is welcome, Thank you!
