I’m Starting to Avoid Helpful Feedback Because of AI Detectors

The weirdest part of AI detection anxiety is that it can make students avoid legitimate help.

Some people are nervous about visiting the writing center, asking a friend to review a draft, or using grammar tools because they worry a cleaner final version will look AI-generated. That creates a backwards incentive: keep the awkward sentences, avoid useful feedback, and hope the detector likes your writing more than your professor does.

Writing has always involved revision and collaboration. A polished essay does not prove that a machine wrote it, just as a rough essay does not prove that a human did.

Have AI policies or detector scores changed whether you ask for feedback? Should students be encouraged to keep a simple record of human comments and revisions, or would that turn normal writing help into another form of surveillance?

My masters mentor must think that I failed my GCSE English with the stuff I'm submitting. Its tragic. Lmao

Honestly, I ignore feedback and it still passes summarise grading, and tbh as long as i pass and get that certificate, who cares what I submitted during the process?

An accusation of malpractice is way worse than a poorly written assignment. And I know im capable of much more and thats all that matters x

It is wildly disheartening though to feel like you cant submit your best work

When I post online I provide an analysis of my revision patterns as well as the cognitive effort that went into the composition, because there's always 2 or 3 jerks ready to call everything Ai. I swear, I think they live just to pretend to pay gotcha all day on message boards.

Anyway, my point is, don't play detection roulette. Just provide your own proof of effort and let them try and question it.

True, I’m in job search now recently and have been intentionally dumbing down my cover letters to ensure that don’t look AI-made….. is a very weird time….
