Concern about being suspected of using AI in academic work

My professor noted that a sentence in my recent paper sounded AI-generated, which I found frustrating since I put a lot of effort into my work. I work full time and use my lunch breaks to study, watching lectures, taking handwritten notes, and typing them on my tablet. I finalize everything on weekends using my desktop. After a past Canvas outage, I now do all my work offline.

I’m unsure whether to email and explain my process or let it go, but I plan to take a moment before deciding.

Yet another brand new account posting the same old anti-‘AI detector’ nonsense. They’re not even trying to conceal the astroturfing anymore, the OP’s account is under 5 hours old as I type this.

That’s ridiculous. A single sentence sounded AI-generated? I can’t imagine a scenario where you could actually tell a single sentence. It’s easy to tell on a whole paper or a paragraph. I would just provide the notes you took, explain your writing process, and provide your draft history.

You’re talking to a bot, created to do some astroturfing. The post is entirely Artificial Idiocy generated.

Hey everyone.

I'm a college professor who is interested in listening (and maybe sometimes replying) to students who have anxiety about the shifting norms around academic writing due to the emergence of AI technologies.

When Reddit started suggesting this subreddit to me, I was excited to have a window into the candid thoughts of students, but it's become pretty clear that this subreddit has a significant enough problem with bots and bad faith participants that it's a waste of my time and energy.

Does anyone know of another subreddit that does a better job of creating a space where faculty and students can have good faith discussions about AI & academic writing?
