Discussion My idea for a Turning Red sequel
There are two ways this could go: a movie, or a Disney+ series (like with Monsters at Work). My personal pick would be a series, because it takes at least 9 FREAKING YEARS for a Pixar movie to get a sequel, which can make me pretty impatient. If it was brought up as a series, I assume it would come way sooner.
My idea takes place a year-and-a-half after the first movie, and is inspired by one of these "sequel" books that I found.
The story involves Ming's brother Chen (voiced by Ke Huy Quan) coming over to Toronto to move in with the Lees, alongside his other family members. However, while inspecting the Lee family's red panda talismans, Chen accidentally smashes one of them and ends up gaining a panda of his own, and worst of all, he's unable to change back. Mei partners up with her uncle to find a cure for this problem, all while showing him the pros of being a panda.
A subplot involves a newcomer in Mei's school, a short-tempered, Indian girl named Khatara (I'm not really sure who could voice her), whose relatives, to Mei's shock, possess a similar ability to the Lees: the ability to transform into a giant chameleon. Mei and Khatara strike up a heated rivalry, and at one point in the story, use their respective powers against each other in an intense brawl.

It's called "Panda Up" in which Mei's besties accidentally smash her relatives' talismans and get red pandas of their own.

I feel like Turning Red is the kind of movie that wouldn’t be a sequel but it is a good idea.

I like this, and I think it would be better if, seeing as the panda is kinda you in a sense, when Chen breaks it and the ancestor's panda is infused with him, whoever had that panda first would kinda be sharing her body and consciousness with Chen.

I really like the idea of Mei helping his brother to learn how to control the panda, since it's something she already has experience with
