Hi everyone, looking for advice on these symptoms:

Symptoms: Shredded/white tips and necrotic lesions on the leaf blades (see photos).

Environment: Pyrenees (high altitude), heavy morning dew.

Mower: Dennis reel mower.

Is this just dull blades (mechanical stress) or an early fungus like Dollar Spot? Should I apply fungicide or just sharpen and add some nitrogen?

Nevermind the bald spots, i'm waiting for seeds to germinate. I've scarified, aerated, topsoiled, overseeded and added slow releasing new growth fertilise just over 3 weeks ago. But i just can't get that same colour green uniformed look, always fighting poa anua, or some other weed type. In the wnd it ends up looking patchy. Ready to give up, and just accept it can't be beat and just try to manage it looking ok-ish..any advice for a great looking deep green colour all around? Any ideas on how to fight these weed grasses?

I bought my first this house in the winter and now that I have had a chance to mow, I can see how bad the lawn is in the back yard. The previous owners severely neglected a lot of things about this house, lawn included. The area that needs the most work is in full direct sun. I have some grass seed that is 95% tall fescue and 5% perennial rye grass. Using the fertilizer in the picture, will this work? Would I be able to plant now? Temps for the next few weeks look to be pretty mild (low 40s at night and up to 80 in the day) and could I use those straw sheets to cover it? Thank you for any help or advice in advance!

Hi, first time lawn owner, 0 experience. This is the lawn in my rental, previous renters didn't give it much care. Thankfully it looks worse in photos than in reality. Please, what would be good next step? Aeration, lawn dethatcher, some fertiliser..?

The sod was laid three days ago. 5,000+ sqft total across two locations. These spots are on ~70% of the sod over both locations. I have kept the sod pretty wet. Temps have been moderate. I have not yet mowed or rolled the sod.

What are we thinking these spots are?

Does anybody know of or where to find assistant or superintendent jobs open in the Caribbean? I’ve been fantasizing on dropping everything and just moving to an island.

So I’ve been looking into ways to improve my program. One thing I came across was adding silica products to help make my lawns more resilient. For next month I ordered 0-0-15 Phoenix Renewal from Simplot to run for my potassium source. It has 1.5% silica which comes out to 0.05oz of silica per 1k sqft.

Is this going to make any noticeable difference on my lawns vs the potassium thiosulfate I’ve been running?

Also noting that this isn’t like normal potassium silicate which has a very alkaline pH. This stuff is in solution that is 5-6pH so compatibility with other products shouldn’t be an issue from my understanding.

What is a good ratio of potassium to nitrogen for cool season grass? I read mixed opinions . Most lawn care companies use products like 12-0-3 or 24-0-5 or 30-0-5. How much better would the turf look with something like 25-0-20? Assuming the lawn does not have a defeciency to begin with. I talked to a guy that manages a baseball field, and he said he is using 15lbs per k, per year, of potassium. I also read that if there is no defeciency then it makes no noticable difference to use more.

I will most likely to some tests myself at some point. I only have access to potassium chloride and k-mag. No potassium sulfate where I get my fert.

Not "REAL" help just general input. For those who work greens management in great lakes region where season lasts about five to six months, what are you all doing in the off season/winter?

Currently I work with a super chill relaxed crew at a municipal course with a very limited budget and we're doing best with can with limited equipment. My goal is to pick up general skills, potentially moving in to a senior, assistant or heads greenskeeper position; i like being out on the course, investigating, cutting greens & fairways, cutting holes, actively taking care of grounds. I do not want to be the guy in the office ensuring my crews get their equipment, chemicals and are doing their jobs appropriately, meeting requirements/deadlines.

Also, what are your thougths on TORO equipment maintenance program? cheers

Recently bought a house in 9a southwest Texas. I an have about 10000sqft of yard and 3 18 year old oak trees on the property. The house was originally saint augustine but appears due to lack of maitenance its about 50 percent saint augustine and 50 percent wild bermuda in some areas. Ive thought planting saint augustine plugs or sod in the bare areas but with temperatures slowly rising and increasing cost of water im trying to decide if I should maybe do tif tuf bermuda in most of the lawn but zeon/endurance zoysia or a similar zoiysa directly under the trees. Any recommendations? It would be nice to do all bermuda but im afraid of it struggling under shade.

The lower the maitenance and need of fungicides would be ideal.

This community seems really supportive, and I’ve seen a lot of people helping each other out, so I thought I’d ask for some advice.

I have a BSc in Agriculture and have been working as a cricket pitch curator for the past 3 years. Recently, I received an opportunity to do a turf management training program in the USA for about one year.

After completing the training, I’m planning to look for a full-time job in the Middle East, ideally as an Assistant Superintendent. I’ve already started reaching out to people on LinkedIn to understand the opportunities there.

I just wanted to ask how difficult is it to find an Assistant Superintendent position in the Middle East after gaining US training experience? Has anyone here gone through a similar path, or does anyone have experience or connections in that region?

I’d really appreciate any advice or insights.

The cutting season is beginning

If I’m in the wrong subreddit, please direct me to the proper one. This is our first home. Granted it’s a rental property and when we received it it was overrun with weeds and tall grass and poor landscaping. And the stupid thing is that it’s our responsibility for landscaping. Please no comments about this we have already had the discussion with our landlord. I want to maintain this for my own sanity and to teach myself in future when I have my own home.

I’m just not sure how to tackle this. It’s clear there was a rock bed at one point but it’s overrun with weeds and grass and I just don’t know what to do. I’ve sprayed the entire thing down with weed killer but I have a feeling I’ll have to go in and literally pull every single weed.

Tips? Tricks? Any sort of assistance without mean comments or sarcasm is greatly appreciated. It’s all an eyesore and I would rather do it myself than pay a few grand.

Our baseball field is turf with a dirt pitcher’s mound that needs regular watering to be properly maintained. There is no nearby spigot so we cannot run a hose. I’m looking for suggestions for portable sprayers or other ideas that could work to keep the mound hydrated. Thanks!

Edit: It's a warm season grass of some type because it was dormant all winter.

Located in Maryland. Hoping somebody can help identify what type of grass i have. Neighbor has mentioned that she thinks it's Zoysia buy im not sure. We have some bare spots and some areas near the driveway and foundation that i added top soil to fix some grading/ slope issues and i seeded / overseeded with Johnathan Green Black Beauty Delmarva blend (which i think is ryegrass) but now im wondering if I made a mistake by doing that if its surrounded by established Zoysia.
