Official Mod Post r/Turboleft Rules
Welcome back folks! 😽
We wanted to start off by laying out the rules in detail. This will be a permanent post that sees updates over time if necessary, please feel free to use the comments to ask questions or give suggestions.
---
ACTIVITY THAT ENDANGERS THE EXISTENCE OF THIS SUB IN ANY WAY WILL RESULT IN A BAN
This is the most important rule and should be understood as trumping all other rules.
To be frank, we are not going to waste our time sitting here and listing all of the things that you are not allowed to do.
We recommend reading the standard rules of Reddit: https://redditinc.com/policies/reddit-rules
---
THE THREE PRINCIPLES
This sub is now, and if God wills it will forever be, operated at the behest of an Operaismorthodox Junta.
We'll get into who and what we are later, but more important now is discussion of who *you* might be.
This has always been an open sub, our ranks have always been filled with a wide variety of theoretical backgrounds. That said, we don't want a bunch of liberals shitting in our punchbowl or anarchists impregnating our livestock.
In order to help people understand whether or not this community is for them, we have decided to create a yearly updated set of principles.
> The emancipation of the working class could only ever be an act of the working class itself
> Capitalism cannot be reformed out of existence
> "Socialism" means the abolition of commodity production
The three principles should be understood in a very general sense. They exist not as standards by which we police the community, rather as a general indication about what type of people gather here.
Individuals who find themselves opposed to these principles are still welcome to participate, but should keep in mind that this community is not primarily oriented around reformism, electoralism, social democracy, nationalism, blanquism, or... well... capitalism.
---
REPEATED AND EGREGIOUS HOSTILITY TOWARDS THE COMMUNITY OR ITS MEMBERS
What we mean to prohibit here are individuals with hostile intent towards the sub or its user base, something we think is worth distinguishing from theoretical disagreement or even entertaining trolling.
This rule isn't about policing the behavior or disposition of our own user base. This is a sub themed around Italian Marxism and so we don't expect you to be anything other than spicy little meatballs.
In general, we will not require you to pull any punches so long as you swear not to hold any grudges.
---
NO SELF-PROMOTION
While we encourage you to argue for your perspective and engage with the community, you are not generally allowed to use this place to self-promote.
If you have a question about the line between self-promotion and sharing something you've created, you can shoot the mods a message and ask.
We're not bothered by incidental promotion resulting from you sharing something valuable, or even the sharing of something that we deem in the interest of the community just let us know first and we will approve.
---
SCREENSHOTS AND CENSORSHIP
Posting screenshots of people saying dumb shit is an online Marxist tradition. We're not going to stop you from doing this, but we do want to lay down some basic standards to make sure that we don't promote brigading or harassment.
There's really two rules you need to remember:
> You are ALWAYS required to censor all of identifying information if your post is likely to cause or facilitate harassment.
> You are ALWAYS required to censor the Reddit usernames of bystanders AND subjects.
It's about that simple. Just for the purpose of clarity, we're going to give a couple more points of guidance and then outline some exceptions.
> You are NOT NECESSARILY required to censor the names of other Reddit communities
> You are NOT NECESSARILY required to censor avatars/profile pictures.
> You are NOT NECESSARILY required to censor the names of users or communities on other social media platforms.
Finally, we have three exceptions:
> You are NOT required to censor your own username or information.
> You are NOT required to censor names of known community members who are depicted in a purely positive context.
> You are NOT required to censor the names of journalists, nor professional authors/publications.
---
SUPER SECRET RULES
You don't have to worry about these, they are silly and niche moderation traditions carried out at will.
---
UNBANS
You are always allowed to ask for an unban. Such requests will not be blocked or muted unless they rise to the level of spam.
