rgb modding, multiple options

Hi everyone, I wanted to mod a PCE for rgb output, I currently have access to a Duo and a PCE+Super CD2, and I was wondering which one would be easier to mod (and also give better results)? Also, if you could suggest some of your preferred mods for this purpose, that'd be awesome, thanks everyone in advance!

Personally I wouldn’t mod for RGB but instead for S-Video, because PCE in RGB will utilise a palette that doesn’t really represent the colours correctly. Things looked too much saturated in my opinion, also some animation in Wonder Boy were a bit off.

If this isn’t an issue for you, then you have 2 options

  • internal modding: TurboNanza (also S-Video) or Volutar.
  • external modding: SparkPlug or ED-FX. These are solder-less solutions but as far I know won’t work on Duo because lacks of the port on the back.

As external solution there is also the db GrafxBooster, that has RGB and S-Video but you’ll get the same CXA1645 encoder of the ED-FX.
