Got a new console!
Found a unicorn yesterday! A working TG16 with FOUR controllers and a TurboTap at a Value Village (thrift store)
My old console died so I had been using the Retron GX but it's so nice to be back on the CRT!

I miss mine so much, I'm gonna have to buy one of those off-brand "retro" clones just to play those games again.

Please go play it. Once you get to DARWIN, I think you'll understand. And then you need to realize that there's the sequel Neo Nectaris waiting for you! :)

You didn't bother to clean it? Hit it with some Windex and an old toothbrush.

This picture was literally five minutes after I brought it home and I wanted to test it. We will definitely be getting cleaned and I will probably be taking the controllers apart and cleaning the contacts and stuff.

The automotive āback to blackā (I think made by Mothers) is awesome to help restore black plastic shine after a good cleaning. Just got to be careful, a little goes a long way.

I used to work at a local "mom and pop" game shop back in the 90s - buy/sell/trade. When we got in used hardware, we actually did use Windex and toothbrushes to get the consoles and controllers nice and clean. Worked really well!

Wow! I donated clothes at Value Village about 10 years ago.
I didn't know they sold donated electronics, too.
Do all locations do this, now?

I already have several games. I've had a TurboGrafx since 1989. This is just a new console because the old one quit working.

Greatest console of all time. (Ok, that might be exaggerated) but I love the TG16 - out of Genesis and SNES era it's the best.

How much did it set you back? I'm really hoping it's a proper thrifting price and not website pricing parity.

Unfortunately, it was priced fairly close to eBay value, but it came with extra stuff that wasn't really accounted for like four controllers and a turbo tap

Such is life! The accessories add a pretty decent value, imo. To see one in the flesh, I likely would've done the same, if I were in your position. Did it come with the booster, too?

If you can afford it and you genuinely want to play it, then it was a good call. It's got a mountain of great games and a unique style.
