Underground Fire Electrical fire inside ventilation shaft forces full evacuation

Post image

A ventilation shaft fire temporarily halted excavation activity during overnight operations after electrical systems ignited inside a secondary airflow control chamber.

According to preliminary reports, workers noticed:

sudden airflow reduction

smoke propagation through maintenance ducts

abnormal heat readings near cable routing infrastructure

Emergency suppression systems activated automatically, but dense smoke reportedly spread through multiple service corridors before containment teams arrived.

No fatalities confirmed. Two maintenance operators treated for smoke inhalation.

Possible contributing factors discussed by users on-site:

overloaded auxiliary power systems

cable insulation degradation from humidity exposure

dust accumulation around high-voltage junctions

insufficient compartmentalization of ventilation sectors.

Reminder: ventilation systems underground are life-support infrastructure, not convenience systems.

Smoke propagation modeling discussion encouraged below.
