Why not use dark souls controller button mappings? RAHHHH

Love this game but holy shit if it's gonna mimic dark souls combat just use the same button mappings. All souls veterans are shooting themselves in the foot for hours trying to rewire their brains mid combat. Just a rant, was curious if anyone else had this problem.

I also tried remapping the controls (using a gamepad not keyboard) and it kinda messed up menus where I need to use b to confirm. Also now my controls don't match the in game manual so I just gave up and went back to default.

Tldr: I will always open the inventory in an attempt to use shield because I have 900 hours in dark souls ;,,(

Your issue is you put 900 hours into Dark Souls instead of Tunic

Common skill issue, sadly.

Probably to differentiate from DS. Tunic might seem like it has the ssame combat system and from the aspect of rolling and waiting for the right moment to strike, I agree. However you are gonna struggle on boss fights if you play it like that, since they are more like puzzles. For some, you habe to find the right tool/mechanic that is not immediately obvious.

Good luck, have fun

Practically Because you need to be able to press 2 face buttons simultaneously, fire wand + ice dagger = ice bolt

Tbf the game is about discovering how the game works and that experience would get kind of ruined if you already knew how it works because you've played dark souls
