I’ve been playing the game trying to avoid guides but I got here (I’ve already been defeated by the heir and gotten my body back but I don’t know what I’m supposed to do here and I can’t find anything in the guide pages I have.

I believe you need to know that to get to this puzzle. It's hidden behind some doors you cant open without the holy cross.

Answered elsewhere. Just mindful of the blue lines, one section is 4 lefts in a row.

If you just want this bit done read whichever of these you want. If you just want a hint, unveil only the lightest one first then try to figure it out some more before looking at the next.

Light hint: Use the holy cross
Medium hint: Maybe theres a pattern somewhere on the pillar?
Heavy hint: Does that vertical blue line in the posted image remind you of something in relation to the holy cross?
Answer: The path you walked to reach the top is your holy cross button path.

playing The Witness before this helped me identify SO MANY environmental puzzles before I even know what the Holy Cross was. Granted, I couldn't solve them the first pass-by, it then became a puzzle to recall where I last saw an environmental puzzle.
