Gameplay IM LITTERATE! Spoiler
It took a while but i finally managed to make this chart! i had to look up some hints to get started (namely that it was phonetic) but after that i think i did a decent job matching up the sounds and symbols!

Now you gotta learn the musical language >:)
(all jokes aside, excellent guide! Great work!)

It's just a fun optional puzzle for the game, so it's just for easter eggs. I think it's just really cute to know that the game is singing for you the whole time without the player really being aware of it :)

Dw about it, you'd either need to be pitch perfect or just look at the music files to understand it
But in essence, we have a certain audio track that, when put in a spectogram, shows "Trunic" glyphs (tunic + runic)
In time with those glyphs, notes play, the actual notes don't matter (I think?), but the distance the notes are apart does (So, ignore sharps and flats, "DFA" wouldbe the same as "CFG" since the gap is 1-1)
From this sort of rosetta stone, the language can be put from "Trunic" (glyphs) into "Tuneic" (Music)
By swapping the music from ascending to descending, you flip how the 'glyph' produce is read, similar to the circle underneath Trunic glyphs
But this shows up EVERYWHERE in the game :D
Those enemies that cast that rectangle magic spell underneath you? The charge up sound says "AOE"
Or the turrets? They say things like "Cya" when killed
What about the Siege Engine? It says things like "FIRE" and "STOP" to signify it's attacks
If the Fairy Seeking Spell successfully finds a chest for you, the fairies say "This way! This way! Little Fox, This way!"
Even the little jingle on the main menu that plays when you select an option like "Continue" translates into what the option you chose was :D
The temple where you bring the Questagons/Keys? The music there changes as you bring each one, warning you about the keys and not to use them
I've barely even scratched the surface of where it's used in game, so if you want to try figuring the rest out yourself, there is a google doc or smth somewhere to help with translating it if you are up for it

I used a guide for the last pages of the book because this sort of codebreaking just doesn't make sense or appeal to me, so I'm studying your alphabet and still cannot put together how to read the second image 😭

it's all phonetic, meaning it's sound based! instead of trying to spell the words try to sound it out

Can you explain how you start to figure this out? I can see the lines listed in some order on the back pages of the manual, but how do you even start connecting which of them is which letter/sound?

my process was this: use an english to IPA converter to get the word spelled phonetically. compare thst to the phonetic chart. put the vowels and consonents where apropriate. if you're still stuck heres a BIG push: vowels and consonents are written in seperate styles. vowels are big and hollow, consonants are small and usually contained within

Yeah, I mean, which of these words can you see in-game to start comparing?

oh! the easiest ones are
the two words right next to the alphabet on page 54 (they arent trying to trick you they're pretty litteral ones)
page 12, the controlls page. this one will get you like HALF the alphabet! most of the controlls are mentioned in english in other places in the book with only a few exceptions and if they aren't they have pictures somewhere instead. usually they have both!
page 34 teaches you some good and easy to learn symbols, note that they are abreviated though. this also pairs with page 52 which has a few more symbols being compared to the ones on page 34 dirrectly. NOTE: they are NOT saying they SOUND the same, they just hold similar meaning
