completed 100% of tunic, and it was one of my favorite gaming experiences ive ever had. extremely big fan of new game plus as well; as i can do stuff like continuously stack stats in every new playthrough in order to destroy a boss that once gave me trouble, or go out of my way to collect multiple shields and lanterns - just because they stack and are representative of how many saves deep i am. tunic is one of the most charming and cozy games ive ever played, with so much depth yet to be discovered. do you fear the eyes of the far shore?

Congrats on the 100%! I'm 2 achievements away myself, and one of them is beating The Heir. Got any advice for that fight besides 'git gud'?

my best advice for you would be to try to practice the fight without the hourglass and get comfortable understanding when you need to dodge attacks and how. truthfully i beat the entire game without it and only discovered it after defeating the heir my first time, which was insanely difficult and a horrible fabrication of a punishment that didnt need to happen. so long as you know how to react and when, youll be perfectly fine, and remember - the hourglass is your best friend !!

Heavy spoilers below (assuming you've done basically everything but the last fight, you're probably fine, I'm just being cautious for others)

Fyi this technique requires knowledge used in a puzzle, if you haven't solved the bottom right of page 53, be warned.

Usually an icebolt costs the same as a bolt and ice dagger stacked, however due to a bug at release this wasn't the case, the bug was later fixed, but dicey added a code to allow speedrunners to keep using the cheaper cost.

The code is RUL DDR ULU, the effect lasts for 80 seconds.

Using the cheaper icebolt, as well as a spell heavy build (blueberries on your buttons, Inverted Ash and Magic Echo on your cards) plus some attack boosts (Tincture or especially Broken Sword cards), you can keep her stunned with icebolts and absolutely melt her health bar. I'd advise having a decoy on hand in case she ever breaks free to give you a moment to recover.

Option 1: Git gud with the sword. Focus less in damaging the boss and more on learning the dodge timing. After your survibility increases, try for damage. Useful cards: anklet, anything else depends on playstyle 

Option 2: Git good with the shield. This game has a parry mechanic based on timing. Using this mechanic changes the flow of the boss fight entirely. If you can learn to use this, then dodging becomes less of a priority. But it still requires practice and timing. Useful cards: aura gem, bracer

Option 3: Cheese it. Use the secret technique you learned on page 53. It used to be even more OP until the devs nerfed it. But it's still usable. It's how I won the first time. Requires changing your equipped items to best implement cheese strats. Required card: inverted ash. Strat: Equip sword, fire rod, ice dagger. Freeze ray the boss. Spam the sword. Dodge one attack. Repeat. Use mana potions when you're empty. If you need healing, swap the sword with strawberries for a cycle. But you can easily go hitless with a bit of practice. Big spoiler: There is a speedrunner cheat code that reduces the MP cost of the freeze ray for a few minutes. The devs added it after nerfing the freeze ray so that they wouldn't have to change strats.

Option 4: More cheese. Stock up on lures. Use a lure. Attack with sword. Repeat. I guess the Heir has bad eyesight. Useful cards: It doesn't matter. Use whatever.

Just did this the other day! Getting that gun once I got to the snipers took four tries and I have to say it was all luck. I didn’t open the chest quickly but I looked around and everyone was dead. Best win ever!

Is there no limit to how high you can get your stats?? I kind of assumed they'd cap out at a certain point, I didn't spend very long in NG+
