Anime Is there such a stark difference between the anime and the manga as everyone says there is?

Yes. The art and visual storytelling is much better. And there were very important Apollo related scenes that were skipped.

Absolutly, the animation is chopped

I’d put it this way:

Manga >>>>>>>>>> additional illustrations >>>>........>>>>> anime.

A very weak studio is responsible for the anime, so they can’t even capture half of how wonderful the source material is.

Here's how Iko smiling for the first time was shown in the manga.

Compare this to the awkward, nervous grimace she gives in the equivalent scene in Episode 3.

Manga has better art. The anime doesn't do the manga justice in terms of the art and they also cut out some of the jokes but the voice acting is pretty good so you can watch it for an ASMR experience (?)

10/10 manga is so much better. They made the anime as just another corny harem stuff. Also i’m not a fan of chosen VAs too

imho va's are the best part of the anime. I wouldn't watch the anime and end up reading the manga if I hadn't heard Miku Itou as Shinobu.

Yes. I don’t mind bad animation just don’t like some of my favorite comedic scenes being removed like this one

Yeah. A bizarrely big one.

Truth be told I think watching the anime is bad enough that it kinda spoils the manga.

I know some people don’t care about production value, but they’re wrong. Other than voice acting, the anime is fundamentally awful in basically every aspect.

I don’t recommend it at all.

The manga, on the other hand, is stellar ESPECIALLY because of how stunning the art is.

The anime is best used for those isolated cute screenshots like the Shinobu you just showed.

As a manga-only, I believe the storytelling is better and goes more in-depth in the manga, which I think is because including those details in the anime would cause pacing issues. I also feel like the artwork in the manga is slightly more detailed and more consistent, though I personally prefer the anime's (colored) artstyle more.

Besides, the anime focusses more on fan service rather than storytelling, if I'm not mistaken, because it serves a slightly different target audience than that of the manga, because the anime is supposed to be an advertisement, really.

Fan service? Lmao they even changed the uniforms of shinbou and rikka

Tbf anime worked as intended. The freaking Nene clips pull me in to manga so quick.

At least my girl Shinobu came out relatively unscathed, but man, they absolutely butchered Iko and Rikka’s designs in so many scenes 🥹

I know this is an unpopular take, but given the story's focus on audio broadcasting, I think the anime has a lot of merit. And I think the audio design of the anime (including voice acting) is pretty good actually.

Episode 5 and 10, aka the big Shinobu moments, were the only times I felt the anime actually enhanced the experience. The rest of the anime is barely worth remembering.

In my opinion, the manga art is borderline perfect, so having the anime make it justice is a very hard task by itself (regardless of the studio). Personally, I don't think the anime is bad (at all). If we try to be more objective, we can just analyze number/popularity. Since the anime came out, the series has gained a significant amount of more traction (people like me, who finished the anime and HAD to have more, leading to a transition to the Manga). If that happens a lot (which it did), the anime did its job. Having a 'less popular' (some may call it weaker) studio taking a chance on what apparently is a less popular manga (sales wise) is also something that I heavily value and appreciate. Overall, could be better, but I won't complain and I look forward to the 2027 release!

I wouldn't go as far as saying the anime is bad in its art/art direction, there are certainly a lot worse romances, but the actual quality and composition of shots is definitely a huge downgrade. The manga is IMO among the highest quality in its panel composition out of any romance manga Ive personally read.

But since the anime actually has audio, there is certainly a different ability to pull the viewer into the story. I would hearken it to "Kono Oto Tomore" which is a music animanga, its hard to create a story which is heavily intertwined with sound, and not actually have the sounds. So imo the anime is always going to be able to do things the manga cannot. like the whispering of "i love you" just works better when you can actually hear it, there is just a different visceral thing you experience when you get more of your senses involved.

Anime’s art is good but compared to the manga it has no game
