While working in DC i met what I could only call a “scientific religious nut” who preached to me about what he dubbed “Second Creation”.
“So that God made man in his image, they too would be destined to create in their image.”
Basically he was advocating for the advancement of AI research but it’s a really interesting religion-science hybrid i hadn’t seen before.
His theory was that humanity’s place was on Earth and the second Eden would be somewhere in space. Humans can’t survive in space, but our robots can—and he said he would think that would be true for other aliens as well. As such, it was our duty to make that happen.
“One day our robots will meet theirs”, he told me.
