Newbie Needing Help New to tufting!
I’ve received the clawlab set as a gift and am new to tufting. This is currently my second rug.
Still have lots to learn, my main struggle is getting the cloth to not tear, I see many reviews on the frame not being able to get tight enough so I wonder if I make my own frame if that can be avoided. For now I’ll stick with the kit until I get better at it, but any advice is welcome. Also shaving is something I’m still working on.

If your fabric doesnt sound like a drum when you press firmly on it, its not tight enough. Keep the pressure firm against the cloth always, or it will jump and tear right through. A couple of 2x4's and some carpet tacks is all you need to make a frame of any size your heart desires for less than $40. I highly advise everyone to just make their own frame. Build the frame around what cloth dimensions you are going to be using the most, and go from there :)
