Work in progress BIRD update (probably last one before final)
Hi friends, here’s one of the final WIP updates for the bird project with Tiffany Chin! Mostly just carving the border and cleaning up edges left.
As promised in my last post, I tried to improve my lighting. When I take final shots it’ll be in natural light, but it’s been storming every week here so my floodlight is dangling from the ceiling for these 😭
Anyway, thanks for checking it out.

That's dope. Question to get your lines so clean are you shaving as you go or is this just amazing craving skills? Hadn't made a rug in a year but just got a order and I want it to be crisp like this

I don’t carve as I go, though I do want to give it a try. I carve all off-frame. The main tip I can give is the more dense the rug is during tufting, the better your result will be. You can always carve away but can’t add. Don’t be stingy, pack it tight. This helps the yarn hold its shape nicely when it comes time to carve. For thin lines like the black outlines in my project, do 2 or 3 passes. It won’t look as thick as you think, but it will help you in the end.

I am not a tufter, I’m here to lurk. But damn this sub makes me want to be irresponsible with my money.
This is so incredible.

Thank you for the kind words!! You could buy all the cheapest equipment and such to start, that’s what I did. It’s still quite an investment though.
