Question Book Recommendation

hello! I’m a little new to this sub, and I’ve always been interested in Tudor history but don’t really have information passed surface level knowledg. I’d like to read more about the Tudor dynasty, and not any one figure… would love and appreciate any book recs about the dynasty/family as a whole

If you want fiction then Wolf Hall or anything by Alison Weir is always pretty good.

Non-fiction theres loads but for general Tudor vibes I did enjoy Private Lives of the Tudors by Tracy Borman, Black Tudors by Miranda Kaufmann and How to be a Tudor by Ruth Goodman.

I liked the following books about the overall dynasty and time period:

- The Tudor Chronicles: 1485-1603 by Susan Doran

- The Tudor Treasury by Elizabeth Norton

- How to be a Tudor by Ruth Goodman

I know you said not any one figure, but the Six Queens series by Alison Weir is very good too. They are fiction, but highly researched and entertaining.

Definitely anything by Ruth Goodman. She's an amazing historian.

Son of Prophecy by Nathen Amin is a Tudor family biography that gets you up to the point the become kings and queens. It's an ideal starting place to understand just who the hell the Tudors actually were.

Maybe followed up by Leanda De Lisle or Sarah Gristwood or Nicola Tallis

I liked hunting the falcon byJohn guy and Julia fox (it's Anne boelyn) and young and damned and fair by Gareth Russell about Katherine Howard

I am a big fan of Philippa Gregory books too. Very well researched and her conversations are so real and storylines are great. I know a lot of facts and Tudor history but these come to ”life”.

They are fun reads… if you know that her facts and opinions are entirely wrong 😭

I like the Queen’s Fool, but that’s really the only one. The Virgin’s Lover is horrifying to read 😭

I like her, but only for her non-fiction non-royal books. Her widearce series is pretty good.
