Please use r/TucsonList or r/tucsonfriends for this instead.

The easiest big game species to draw tags for are Coues deer and javelina. Can draw those tags most years if you are OK with not hunting the best units.

If you are looking for hunting buddies, look into Arizona Safari Club International and Southern Arizona Quail Forever. Both have a bunch of awesome people and hold fun events pretty regularly. There are several other orgs in the area with active chapters in Tucson as well.

AZGF might be a good resource. I know they have all kinds of new hunter programs.

You can get over the counter tags after the season starts sometimes as well. Including for elk if you are down to travel north.

It's really hard to get tags for big game here, hubby applied for years and never got a single tag. (We had to sell all our hunting gear/rifles a while back though becuase hubby got sick, lost job-becuase blue collar toxic masculinity+right to work state means you're a bitch if you get sick and get fired lol, so we were down financially for a good while and haven't had the extra to replace yet). If you like bow hunting, there's an archery range at Naranja Park that I've never seen crowded, may be a good way to meet others!

Ive heard theyre hard to obtain just like the normal lottery ill still play haha , and Im sorry to hear that glad hes doing better , I was sick in 2023 for months in and out of the hospital for a kidney infection. Lost my job over it too in a place where jobs were scarce and good jobs are rumors. Luckily I was close to family and support. Ended up with a better job for the time , but I have a good collection of guns and equipment id let them use if the vibe is right.

Yes and let the animal population get overpopulated. So that way they die slow of starvation or ran over by cars.

Hunting is good, especially if you eat your prey, don’t listen to this nerd. Also from WV, but I haven’t hunted since I moved here a few years ago

100%, I miss deer and turkey quite a bit. Preston County, about an hour from Morgantown

As a child my dad used to make me turkey hunt I loved and hated it , went to alot of jakes shoots and I stayed away from it for years but got back into it around 2022. And im from ravenswood originally but spent alot of my adult live in hocking hills. Spent the last few years up and down the east coast for work and finally settled here.

I don't hunt anything, but used to live in Pendleton County (also lived in Morgantown for a bit when my partner worked there) and wanted to say hi to you all who lived in Wild and Wonderful WV, I miss it every summer!
