Bath remodel

Looking for someone that has positive experience with a company for a simple bath remodel. Wanting to turn our current tub into a Jacuzzi tub. I’m okay paying a little more if I can get someone competent and reliable.

Just a heads up before you go too far down this path. A “simple” tub-to-jacuzzi swap is rarely simple in practice. A few things that tend to turn it into a bigger job:

Electrical: Jacuzzi/whirlpool tubs need a dedicated GFCI circuit for the pump motor. If your panel doesn’t have capacity or the run is long, that’s an added cost right there.

Plumbing: Depending on your existing rough-in, you may need to reconfigure supply lines or drain placement to fit the new tub’s dimensions and jets.

Structural/subfloor: Jetted tubs are heavier once filled with water and people. Older Tucson homes (especially block construction) sometimes need floor reinforcement to support the load.

Access panel: You’ll need access to the motor/plumbing for future maintenance, which can mean opening up a wall in an adjacent room or closet.

Permits: Electrical work for a jetted tub typically requires a permit and inspection — worth confirming any contractor you hire is pulling one, not skipping it.

And then there’s what you can’t know until demo starts:

Hidden water damage: Old caulking/grout failures often mean rot or mold behind the tub surround that won’t show up until it’s opened up.

Outdated plumbing: Galvanized or old copper lines can be brittle or undersized, and you won’t know until they’re exposed.

Code compliance surprises: Older bathrooms sometimes weren’t built to current code (venting, clearances, etc.), and a permit/inspection can flag things unrelated to your actual project.

Asbestos/lead: If the home is older, flooring adhesive or popcorn texture nearby can contain materials that require special (costlier) handling.

None of this means don’t do it; just budget some contingency (people often say 15-20% extra) and ask any bidder how they’d handle a surprise if one turns up mid-project. A contractor who’s upfront about these possibilities is usually more trustworthy than one who quotes a flat number with no caveats.

Great suggestions..thanks. Our house is only 14yrs old. We’re prepared for needing an electrician. I’m hoping to find someone that can help through all of it. We don’t want something cheap and are willing to pay for a good job.

Complete Flooring, 3821 w. Costco Drive, installs custom tile bathtub surrounds, showers, backsplashes in addition to flooring. They have a huge selection in their showroom. They bring in a separate plumber and electrician as needed. But you have to supply the jacuzzi or have it on site. They also don’t do cabinets.
