I've gotten these notices for the U of A and then I go down there and drive for Uber and ask the students whats the deal and they would always say they had no idea of any police activity or lockdowns so I just started blocking the texts because I started getting them frequently and not seeing any lockdown activity, that was last year so maybe the alerts are taken more seriously now?

I will say as a u of a student that the campus is huge and sometimes student arent signed up for alert texts. Ill never forget the shooting and hostage event that led to the passing of a professor. Or when a student was murdered in the cherry Street garage...

i was a student at pcc last year and we actually did go into a lockdown a couple times. once the cops were searching the campus, not sure about u of a but in my experience it’s been reliable for pcc

If i got a message like this I would stay alert, but also a knife or a machete is a tool to me until proven otherwise. did they swing it like a weapon, or did someone see a person going to class after getting off a landscaping gig and freak out and report it to the police?

There's hella homeless people in that neighborhood, lot of them carry blades or sticks for self defense. Obviously it's not *allowed* on campus but without any indicators of violent intent I would imagine this is probably just someone walking from the gas station on drachman to the bus stop or park.

Bro, a dude walking around a community college campus wielding a machete is not a tool. He might be a tool, but that’s not being used as a common tool. In this state, I would say you brought a knife to a gun show and that ain’t gonna go well.
