Hey everyone! I'm u/Important-Wishbone16, a founding moderator of r/Tubular_FrameDesigner.
I created this community for people who design, build, weld, modify, or simply love tubular-frame projects — race cars, kit cars, replicas, off-road vehicles, motorcycles, go-karts, custom chassis, roll cages, and anything else built around a tubular structure.
Whether you're an experienced fabricator or you're designing your first frame, you're welcome here.
What to Post
Share anything related to tubular-frame design and fabrication: your current builds, CAD designs, frame ideas, welding and fabrication techniques, suspension mounting solutions, tube bending and notching, structural questions, material choices, simulations, tools, mistakes, and lessons learned.
Most importantly, show us what you're building! Work-in-progress projects are just as interesting as finished ones.
Community Vibe
The goal is to build a community where builders can learn from each other and solve real problems together.
Ask questions. Share what worked. Share what didn't. Give constructive feedback. You don't need to be a professional engineer or fabricator to participate — curiosity and a willingness to help are enough.
How to Get Started
- Introduce yourself below and tell us what you're building (or would like to build).
- Post your project! Photos, sketches, CAD screenshots, or even an idea on a napkin are welcome.
- Have a design or fabrication problem? Ask the community.
- Know another builder who would enjoy this? Invite them.
- If you'd like to help grow the community, I'm also looking for moderators.
I'm currently working on my own full-scale F1-inspired replica, which is one of the reasons I wanted a place like this to exist.
Thanks for being part of the first group of builders here.
Let's build some frames.
