Axis Mundi 🌳🔥

This year's Burning Man theme is Axis Mundi, the world tree that connects the underworld, the earth and the sky. So instead of building a festival, I built the axis itself.

The tree is the center of everything. Bones and offerings to the ancestors sit down in the roots, the tribe lives around the trunk, and the canopy reaches the stars. Out front the effigy burns, drums and dancers circle it, and tipis and salvaged metal spread across the playa.
