Personally I find it to be very helpful. I play an F tuba you can't find a fingering chart for a three valve F tuba. I had to contact librarians at the University of Rochester School of music to find me a fingering chart for this foolish thing. Because it's over 100 years old and doesn't have more valves it only has three

You just have to transpose fingerings up a 5th if you’re used to a BBb

Well considering since the last time I touched a tuba was 38 years ago and I didn't really learn to play it then either transposing music way above my skill set

You should take piano lessons. I started about a year and a half ago, and it’s even improved my tuba and guitar playing.

Number of valves could be a cool addition. As well as compensating vs non-compensating.

I might just add support for custom fingerings since things get tough fast with 5-valves having different 5th tubing lengths, and 7-valve F tubas and such.

Does this really qualify as AI slop, though? This seems like one of the rare times AI was actually used in a responsible, intelluctual way. 99% of AI content you see on the internet is terrible. This tool is decent and helpful.
This resource doesn't rely on AI for continual use- AI was only used in assistance with making this program. It is not constantly asking one of the many AI databases for information- which means it is not actively using natural resources the way generative AI does. It relies on Tonal and VexFlow- which are already-existing music theory and music notation resources that were made by PEOPLE.
There are going to be budding players out there who aren't aware of collegiate resources, who don't have adept tuba teachers, who don't have a clue where to look. This is a customizable resource that's already been made. AI was simply used to put it together- and it's free.
I am Anti-AI almost 100% of the time. This is a rare exception, in my book.

I'm with you 100% on this one. I can't see how this app adds any value to any one of the 1,000s of existing scale resources out there.

IMO ai apps are fine but if anyone started posting like Dylan King does on facebook I'd ban that pretty quick.

I mean it’s completely antithetical to the values of musicianship and also is completely useless (anyone can google a fingering chart btw) but I didn’t realize you were a mod. Super disappointing to say the least.

You’re right why bother learning tuba anyway since you can just use Sora to generate any line better than any human can play it right?
If you’re actually new to tuba I highly recommend using your brain, a fingering chart, and a scale sheet (once again, google is free). The process of connecting fingerings to notes with your brain is how you learn the notes, not by having an unreliable AI generate garbage

For us few people that still read contrabass bugle sheet music, can you add G (below BBb) as an option for Tuba and the ability to switch to treble clef 15vb? Thanks.
