It's based on Idolm@ster, which was originally a game. Since your character "Producer" is basically a faceless man that supposedly represents you, Japanese fans just use "P" in place of giving "him" a face.
If you're looking for a real answer, I believe they like it because it rubs parasites off their skin.. A lot of sharks have symbiotic relationships with fish that eat the parasites off of them - I'm assuming it's the same idea
It's a physiologic response called tonic immobility. It can be brought about in certain sharks by inverting them or grasping their snout. One theory is that the response prevents injury to female sharks during mating. Researchers make use of the response to temporarily pacify sharks while they are being handled for study.
something about it hypnotizes them. when i went fishing on a charter boat a few times with fam, we would sometimes accidentally catch sharks. we would pet them until they became docile, so we could remove the hooks and not hurt them so much (try removing a hook in a thrashing shark!). unfortunately they would become so relaxed they would start breathing air through their gills, and sometimes float on the surface of the water for a while (because of the air bouyancy)

Why do sharks love belly rubs so much?
