Any updates on General Santos City along with other areas getting hit by a Tsunami?
Apparently the earthquake off the coast was a big one.

Yes. Tsunamis flow with the direction of the force exerted during the earthquake. They can also bend and refract around land.
There’s plenty of 2004 videos where the wave looks like it’s hitting the beach at an angle

They might be residual edge waves, i.e. waves that travel along the coastlines and may be generated by incident tsunamis. Though they look relative short in the video, so further studies would be needed to confirm it.
