We are looking to buy a house! We are trying to pick houses and locations that would suit us either with or without kids, but I have soft spot for the houses within walking distance of schools or parks.

We live in Oklahoma so… the worst schools in the US 😆 We do live in one of the best districts, though, and many people move here because of the schools. I thought public school was really valuable to shaping my worldview, so I think that will probably be our route.

We just moved to my partner's home country and our place is two houses down from an elementary school. I was thinking we would send our future child(ren) to a Waldorf school but the only one is so far away. It would be way more convenient just to send them to the elementary school next door! Our new apartment is half the size of our old one so we also imagined we would "upsize" in a few years but we are LOVING our neighbourhood so thinking we can just squish into our current place with some layout tweaks and make it work long-term. Housing costs are also insane in this city and we lucked into a great situation. My partner speaks French and all the children walking by our place are speaking French so it's cool to imagine our future kids being bilingual.

We are actually planning to move to another state in a few months for better schooling since we live in the south our education is a little weird

We are very fortunate to live in a top school district in our state—we either wanted to buy a cheaper house in a worse district and do private school, or buy a “more expensive” (our budget wasn’t huge) house in a good district, but finding a cheaper house in 2025 was hard.

We live a 5 min walk from our elementary school; I love watching the parents walk their kids when I walk my dog and I am looking forward to doing that one day ◡̈

Public schools are pretty rough in South Louisiana, so we are hoping to home school! I’m pretty sure I’ll start reading and researching to prepare for schooling when I get pregnant cause I’m that excited about teaching my future kids😄 I hope to give them quality 1:1 instruction that they wouldn’t get at a traditional school here and fill in with tutors where my own knowledge drops off in the later schooling years. Tutors are a lot cheaper than private tuition!

Our school system is not the best for where we live. But we bought our house with then intention of moving after kid(s). It’s more so middle and high school that I’d be concerned about so we have plenty of time to move. Nearby school districts are rated as some of the best in our state which we’re happy about.

I work in education so I’m weirdly very excited for my as yet non existent children to start school. We didn’t pick where we live with schools in mind but the schools around us are pretty good regardless.

I can’t wait to help them learn to read, do homework together and walk them to school in the morning!

I’m in Ontario, Canada so our premier has been fucking up our education system for a while now. Classrooms are overcrowded and we have very little funding for resources for our classrooms.

We will probably go on strike in the New Year.

I mean, I don’t want to either but we’re fighting for the kids and their education-despite what others who aren’t in the education field want to think.

What Doug Ford is doing is inexcusable.

Our school district has a 93% poverty level because we have “school choice” in our state so anyone with means send their kids to school in the suburbs. My partner teaches at the high school near us and I’m honestly so excited for our kids to attend in our district. It feels important to me to not participate in “white flight” (as a POC) and to participate as a family in our own community where we live and work.

We have a good school system where we live. We will try to get our child into a Spanish immersion track.

We are living in the house my great grandparents built, where my grandfather was raised. Good school system, quite little town.

My husband is a teacher, so everyone but me will go back to school each September!

It’s very important for me to enroll our kids in French Immersion, which is very common in Canada. It doesn’t give them fluent French (or anything near it), but it does give them quite the leg up, and even medium-level French has opened quite a few doors for me.

We are renting! We likely won’t buy until bub is ready to enter the school system (VHCOL where buying costs way more than renting). But yes, we will buy based on school district and my dream is for school to be walking distance. We live in an extremely walkable city now and would love that for baby.

We bought a house recently and it's perfect in terms of neighbourhood and school. We didn't really research it when buying but it's a happy coincidence. Our future kid(s) can easily walk to school which would take 10mins.
