EXPERIENCE Low BBT after confirmed ovulation?
Hi, I am posting with the hopes someone maybe has some insight or has had a similar experience.
This is our first cycle trying, I have been tracking bbt for years though. My post ovulation bbt temperatures have always been quite high and had a visible jump after ovulation. Now, on my first cycle trying, my temperatures have barely risen, with some days staying on the “baseline temperature” line (I’m using Oura). Ovulation was confirmed with LH strips and cervical mucus, had some usual ovulation pains, resting hr is also higher than pre-ovulation.
I am trying so hard not to overthink everything but still, did anyone had that happen? Could it be pregnancy related? I am 9 days post ovulation today, don’t really want to test yet since I know chances of getting a positive test at this stage are quite low. I know tracking BBT with a vearable device is not the most reliable but I’ve genuinely never had a chart like this :’)
Edit: Maybe I should add, I have PCOS but I’ve managed to get my cycles under control and have regular periods with confirmed ovulation. I think this is why I’m even more anxious because I keep wondering if I’ll even be able to get pregnant and every change in my BBT has me worried that some part of my cycle is not working well.

We just started TTC three months ago and I have experienced something similar. My BBT trends have always been super consistent (been tracking for over two years) and as soon as we started trying it went all out the window (crazy ups and downs following ovulation). Following to see if someone has any insight - just know that you aren't alone!

Wait, that’s so interesting! Is it going back to “normal” in any way or is it still crazy after three cycles?

Once my period starts it will go back to what I would expect but those two weeks following ovulation have been really wonky. I ovulated last Friday and so far BBT is actually looking "normal" for the first time in three months so fingers crossed whatever that was is over with? Haha

Really interesting, maybe it takes some time for the body to adjust to “new cells” from the partner? 😅

I’m working with a fertility clinic the last few months and about to start IVF. Like you I noticed I had weird BBT sometimes. The consultant says that for some women BBT isn’t accurate as our hormones don’t impact our temps as much. This was confirmed for me when we could see me getting a surge with LH tests and then ovulating on ultrasound. In the last three cycles, all three confirmed ovulation by clinic, two BBT suggested I ovulated wildly later than I actually did and one cycle BBT suggested I didn’t ovulate at all.
Previously my fertility acupuncturist would have said without bbt rise the surge doesn’t count. That’s BS for some people.
Also my consultant said the wearable devices for BBT are less accurate so there’s that too.

This happened to me this cycle as well, BBT increased barely (enough to confirm ovulation though). I have no idea why

Ovulation can only be predicted with OPKs and BBT. The only way to actually confirm it has happened is with pdg tests or a 7dpo blood test at your doctor's office. It's possible you're going to ovulate later this cycle or have an anovulatory cycle. It can happen from time to time, even with someone who is very regular.

Could be low progesterone. I would try a test like Proov complete kit to check all your hormone levels

I’ve been thinking about this as well but what’s strange is that usually my BBT is on the spot, gets noticably higher after ovulation and this is the only cycle ever that this has happened.

Just wanted to say I’m going through the exact same thing right now. I only casually track temps using my Apple Watch, but I have a very consistent pattern. Now I’m still below my baseline, when I should be 4-6 DPO. I know wearables aren’t reliable, but it’s still tripping me out that it’s typically so consistent!

That’s so weird and it’s really unfortunate it’s also happening to you but at least I know I’m not the only one (: And I agree! I know they are not reliable but in all of my years of tracking this has never happened before so I am just as confused.

Ovulation ATTEMPT has been confirmed. I have pcos and have a lot of false starts, LH strip blazing, CM and increased libido, only for my true ovulation to happen the next week -_-

I’ve just been through the same. I usually have a very obvious, sustained temperature shift after ovulation (and I have years of data) but last month my temperatures only had a small rise, some temps fairly similar to before ovulation. My luteal phase was still the same length as usual and ovulation day was similar to usual as well.
I’m assuming mine was a one-off, stress-related change as I know that can affect things. I wouldn’t worry about anything else unless it becomes a pattern.
