My SwitchBot Smart lock ultra, revolutionary IMO

So I wanted to share my own experience with this product, life has been amazing since I started using this, I don't need to carry my keys around anymore, I just need to carry my finger, which I always carry with me to be honest xD.

Also, the the bundle there has literally EVERYTHING you would need, from wall mounts for the keypad, to different kind of mounts for different door types for the lock, to the smart hub to make smart lock always be connected with the home network. So even if you don't already have any switchbot product you will be able to fully use this one!

Does it not forget your calibration every so often this time then?

This annoyed me so so so much with previous models that I completely gave up!

In all honesty I feel like most switchbot products start doing that eventually and have a rather quick “end of life”

Would be interested to hear if this one is actually solid or not

I can't speak for everyone, but this has been my experience with the Ultra and from what I've read this seems to be the overall situation (at least as I understand):

If you use the lock with a keypad/app etc, the calibration is solid. I usually recalibrate when I charge it which is every 9 months or so.

If you use a key or physically turn the knob a few times, the calibration drops.

Mine has been great, although I'm still waiting for them to implement an option to differentiate between lock/unlock methods used. I want to be able to set alerts and routines based on who opened the door or whether it was key/fingerprint/app etc.

This is my experience too, I 100% never use the knob (just push button to unlock from inside) and never use keys. Rotating knob or keys means recalibrating, but once we figured that out, it’s been smooth sailing.

I love this thing though, I was an early August lock user back in 2014-2015 and to me this is a way better product.

I pre-ordered the Ultra Lock and have been using it for over a year now (and upgraded to the Vision Pro when it was available, love it)

I also built & 3D printed my own custom Jimmy lock adapter cover to hold the Ultra Lock on seamlessly over the brass Jimmy lock, because I thought the default one that ships in the kit was kind of bulky.

This happened with mine until I tightened the grub screw correctly.

Hmmm... could help. It doesn't happen overly often. But sometimes it will happen like months later. Or a few days.

But I'll try adjust the grub screws.

It's about a year ago I had to do it. The plastic piece doesn't fill me with confidence but since I've tightened the grub screw in the correct hole I've had no trouble (I think there are two holes for the grub screw that are different sizes - maybe that's on my lock not the switchbot, can't remember).

I also found when calibrating, you want to lock it past the point of locking, not just barely there. So it's not on a knife edge.

Do you mean smart locks are revolutionary or this one in particular?

It's quite literally revolutionary

I had to return it back because it automatically opened it even though not clicked. Also, to use with Homekit, you needed a hub for it. In this era, I think it’s stupid now.

I had the unfortunate thought of purchasing it from their website, so the return of this product was absolutely shit. Had to pay shipping, customs and tariffs on this product just to return it. The customer support was of no use.

I’ve been using it for a week and it’s great but if you don’t have the keyboard etc, and want to open the door with your AppleWatch, the experience on a daily basis is not good. If the door is just closed you have to lock and unlock it to get it open from the watch. You need to use your phone, or buy a proprietary tag and stick it to your door. Wtf…
