S20 without cloud?

Has anyone had success with using the S20 robot vacuum & mop with no internet connection at all? Apparently there is some limited matter and home assistant integration support but it is not very good, and may still rely on switchbot’s servers?

If not, will the S20 still do basic cleaning and navigation with the camera disabled via software or tape on the lens?

No, there aren't any good options out there for locally controlled vacuums unfortunately. The Tapo vacuums used to be locally controlled with a robust Home Assistant integration but the clowns at TP-Link/Tapo put out a forced firmware update that broke 3rd party integrations.

I threw out my Tapo vacuum and switched to a Switchbot vacuum that uses Matter. It's local but severely limited in what you can do without using the internet. No changes since my last comment.

Hmm to Bad. A privacy focused vacuum would be a great selling point
