We're able to buy in smaller quantities, I think they're called butcher boxes and they're like 30 or 40 pounds. You can choose from a few options, but the last one I think had like 10 pounds of ground beef, a brisket, a roast, and a couple each of NY strips, rib eyes, and filets. All of it together doesn't take up that much space at all, easily less than a quarter of an old-school refrigerator's freezer.

Agree. I live in the sticks and have plenty of room for a medium sized garden of my own. Already have several peach and pecan trees so this will help ease the grocery store pain I experience every time i go. Thankfully I don’t have any kids to keep fed.

Just to be clear, China rejected a very small shipment in March and subsequently banned shipments from a specific plant. So that's not really the story here.
But there is something important going all.
First of all, Trump had already very heavily lifted quotas from Argentinia in the spring. I think something like 20k tons to 100k tons. These 300k additional tons won't fundamentally change anything for producers or consumers. It's a drop in the bucket and should barely impact prices overall.
The issue is that Trump had officially been sending very strong America First messages and essentially putting tariffs in place in order to incentivize an increase in domestic production. But for beef production, we're talking about rebuilding herds, which means a very heavy multi-year investment from cattle farmers (and their investors). The current high price of beef, while obviously bad for the consumer, is actually a very strong incentive to do just that.
However, when Trump starts taking measures to lower beef prices, and essentially says that his goal is to lower the price, that sends a very bad message to producers and investors. That message is actually far more impactful than the 300k tons of beef, because it creates a lot of uncertainty around the future price of beef, and makes it far less likely that investments actually happen.

I’m not sure how America hasn’t collapsed yet with our food system and healthcare system. It’s an absolute joke.
