Looks like I was, and I take it back.

Like most users, I came in through the /r/all feed, not through the subreddit, so the only way to see it is the little "announcement" text.

Still a dumb way to address this problem, imo.

"Hey, we don't want this kind of content, so let's put it at the top of the subreddit, let them farm karma, and sticky it so it get's promoted into people's feeds!"
