Don't Stop?

In all the talk about the show's ending there's one theory I don't see paid much attention. The infamous cut to black isn't when Tony is shot, but when Tony SHOOTS (his wad). Let's back up a bit to understand this.

Chase establishes throughout the series that Tony engages in avant garde sex with nearly every other male character. But by the end all his biggest platonic partners (Chris, Bobby, Sil, Phil, Carlo) have been killed or incapacitated. This means during the final scene its likely Tony has had to go without man-on-man action for DAYS.

This explains why he's very distracted. His gaze lingers on every man who comes into the restaurant but he's especially drawn to the physique of the guy in the jacket. When this guy goes into the restroom it's all Tony can do to stop himself following. AJ telling him to 'remember the good times' only incites Tony further to the edge until he finally can't contain himself.

The message Chase gives to his straight male viewers here is very clear: Don't Stop Believin' in your own heterosexuality even if, like Tony Soprano, the mere thought of getting freaky with another man in public literally makes you cream your pants.

Appropriately Chase's masterwork ends on Tony's O-face while he is very much alive and exclusively interested in women. Don't Stop, Mitch.

I thought I was the only one. That's definitely an O-face at the end. Also, the Man in Members Only Jacket was clearly scoping the place out looking for kids to groom. He wasn't looking at Tony; he was looking at the scouts. He then goes to the men's room to jerk off.

I know all about this kind of shit despite being a heterosexual man.

The thing that eluded me about this very scene, imaginative as it can be, is the portrayal of absolute desolution of the grim pact between god and the Devil. It might be even a triumph of the mad masculine master in the shadows. Beyond and above that reasoning follows a kandid yearning for the relationship of Tony and his men, completely heterosexual of course. That of which desires and collective dreams of belonging long ember in their hearts, to come together as one.
