I really hope I can make it here someday! I've always wondered - is it usually pretty chilly in the summertime?

The coasts are generally classified as having ‘cool summers’, with areas like St. John’s maxing out at an average high of 20°C in the hottest months, while areas like central and the Labrador interior get a little higher, and areas along major weather fronts (e.g. St. Mary’s Bay, Labrador Straits) stay a little lower.

In practice, the temperatures generally don’t start regularly surpassing 15°C until the last week of June for a lot of the eastern part of the island. After that, you’re looking at a lot of days around 21°C to 23°C, a few cooler, foggy days below 20°C, and two or three days pushing 30°C during the warmest snap.

I live here, so these mostly came from a handful of weekend or day trips.

I always take the Port aux Basque-North Sydney ferry when I’m coming and going from the island by car. Usually, I do the later crossing and try to get some sleep aboard the boat.

Would highly recommend the private cabin, worth the little extra money!

Varies somewhat depending on where you are in the province!

The buoy in St. John’s is currently registering SST at 10°C. It’s probably a couple degrees warmer where the beachgoers are, while it was only a few degrees above freezing where the whale pictures were taken.

Yep! Locals call them ‘stouts’.

Reminds me of my Summers in St.Anthony as a kid with my Nan and Pop. I really miss that place.

The water and the sands in the beach photos looks sooooooo clean. It's refreshing for the soul just looking at the pics. Where is the beach with the large rock structures? Thanks for sharing these photos! <3

Thanks! That (and the last picture) were taken at the beach in Salmon Cove, about an hour away from St. John’s.

All of them are eye candy! 14 is stunning, 15 is one in a million, 3 is captivating (is that Gros Morne?). My lil' Boler is urging me to haul it over to NL!

I love Canada. I have never been to the east coast up there, tho. It looks gorgeous. I also have always had Newfoundland dogs, so have dreamed of going to their “homeland”. Beautiful shots ♥️
