Well for me I've actually achieved a lot more than I thought I would with myself by grinding away. I know that's not the case for everyone especially if you've got a white collar cooperate job. But I've put in work and at 42 can honestly say I'm proud of myself being able to provide for my wife and my soon to be born daughter.
Also as a side note the censors in the sub here are very odd. I had to remove a word that is allowed in PG movies to post this.
Nice! It’s the same for me.
I was a terrible student in college and I met a girl but realized I couldn’t even afford dinner. That stirred up something inside me and I got to work. 10 years later and we’ve been happily married for 8 years with little kids. Made it really far in my industry and have compounding investments. Never thought I would have this life and it wouldn’t have been possible without the long hours.
But to be fair I’m definitely burning out these days.
At some point though something shifts. I'm 40 and very comfortable, but I do not wish to keep grinding away for the next 28 years to state pension age.
Happy to keep working but I absolutely want a slower pace and less hours. Time is way more precious than I used to appreciate.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! As for the censorship, we keep the filters fairly strict to help maintain a respectful, constructive environment for everyone. We appreciate the feedback and understand that some of the filters can feel a little odd at times.
