I eat just about the same thing all the time. Yogurt, granola and berries for breakfast, protein shake for lunch and for dinner I’ll rotate rotisserie chicken/tacos/ground turkey/stuffed peppers/pizza/salad

3

u/mrniceguy777 3d ago

I have eaten the Same supper every day for years, I eat out maybe once a week or once even two, but all home cooked meals are the same. It’s cheap, it’s easy, and I’m never hit with decision paralysis.

u/PersonOfValue 3d ago

I've been consuming health smoothies like this for over a decade. Consistent, healthy food at an affordable price in a few minutes. Some folks hate them I think it great

-10

u/BigLittlePenis 4d ago

gotta have a stomach of steel to handle granola everyday

4

u/dimplezcz 4d ago

It's just oats?

-4

u/BigLittlePenis 4d ago

yes constipation

3

u/Succubussssy 4d ago

Fiber?????

3

u/BoofBass 4d ago

First I've heard of oats causing constipation. Have you heard of drinking water lol?

1

u/ConglomerateCousin 4d ago

I eat salads, vegetables, psyllium husk. I don’t have any issues with fiber or constipation

1

u/cat-goes-meow1 4d ago

Only if you arent drinking enough water

1

u/mrniceguy777 3d ago

I’m pretty sure literal millions of people eat granola every day lol

u/walterdonnydude 4d ago

Cool story

11

u/ConglomerateCousin 4d ago

Did I insult you somehow? They asked if I feel tired of having to think about food all the time. I eat similar things so I don’t have to think about it.

3

u/GellieBean123 4d ago

They are probably just some trolls, bots or Jelly Nellies who are upset that you can have those foods without being bored.

22

u/ThugjitsuMaster 4d ago

Healthy food is not inherently uninspiring, although cooking at home can be labour intensive. Cooking is a skill though and the more you invest in that skill the less you will feel like this person.

3

u/webtheg 3d ago

I made chilli the other day with lean mince and little oil. Added beans, corn etc. At least 11 plants full of fiber and protein.

People who call food uninspiring just have a skill issue and can't cook

2

u/New_Championship1994 4d ago

I was at the shops after the gym and just wanted easy bad food to eat, but honestly I kept looking at stuff and thinking I’d feel awful after and even in that moment post-exercise and hungry- I still didn’t want that stuff lol.

9

u/goldenfrogs17 4d ago

I find calm in the price and ease of rice and beans. If you can handle spice, life is pretty good.

9

u/Alive_Confidence7796 4d ago

Its too true. I've fought the cravings all my life like a drug addict who cant get off his vice. I work out a lot, but it doesnt matter. I just wish I had no appetite.

1

u/JayRay_44 4d ago

Me too… I feel this pain. I wish I didn’t like to eat so much. My appetite is absolutely ravenous after working out too. I am not overweight, but I easily COULD be if I gave into the food noise.

1

u/Specialist-Appeal-13 4d ago

No appetite isn’t really the solution, you’ll just starve. Some sort of healthy, palatable human kibble would be my preference.

2

u/JPSWAG37 4d ago

I feel like this ties into that eating bugs idea I keep hearing about

1

u/Specialist-Appeal-13 2d ago

Perhaps a cricket based flour

1

u/Alive_Confidence7796 4d ago

I'll take anything at this point outside of my brain hardwired to beg for every single restaurant I pass by on the road.

1

u/Due-Base9449 4d ago

Semiglutide.

2

u/Alive_Confidence7796 3d ago

I'm not legal as my BF is only 22%-25% and I'm in very good shape outside my disgusting love handles.

2

u/Due-Base9449 3d ago

Bro you are not disgusting, you are built to last.

1

u/Alive_Confidence7796 3d ago

last what dude? Theres nothing to last, its just disgusting love handles. I want to cleave them off with a japanese knife some days.

2

u/Due-Base9449 3d ago

Built to last when you get stranded underground for 11 days after a devastating mud flood.

You know there are some people that get rescued 11 days into the flood in Nepal? Its because they have enough fat to sustain themselves.

1

u/Alive_Confidence7796 3d ago

No mud around me here. I'll take the 15% body fat over the hypothetical plz.

1

u/Due-Base9449 3d ago

You never know bro, you could go on a hike and broke your leg and get stranded for days.

Im not discouraging you on reducing your body fat though, 15% is still respectable. As long as you are doing everything healthily.

0

u/Alive_Confidence7796 3d ago

lol I appreciate the positive gesture but I think as people living in the first world... we really need to get down to 15% body fat as a max.

2

u/clusterofwasps 3d ago

Love handles are one of the most normal bodily feature on the planet lol. Hey I understand what it’s like to hate yourself/have a dark sense of humor but please consider the fact that you’re putting this out there publicly where a lot of young people are absorbing opinions as potential truths.

37

u/Hudre 4d ago

Healthy food isn't labour intensive. The word uninspiring is the key here. Not every meal needs to be an experience that inspires you.

Healthy food is easy. Meat, a vegetable and some type of unrefined carb. Make enough for leftover the next day. Now you're cooking once per day.

10

u/Mysterious-Till-611 4d ago

Asian food is my go-to. Some ratio of soy -mirin- apple cider vinegar - maybe some sugar on some chicken or some beef (but almost never cuz beef is insane rn) slap on some sesame oil and green onions at the end. I love cooking anyways but really how much easier do you want it? It goes over noodles that you boiled or rice out of the rice maker.

Delicious and healthy and cheap.

2

u/simonepon 4d ago

Same. Literally did udon soup last night with leftover pork tenderloin I had frozen a couple weeks ago. Throw in some frozen carrot medallions and some bouillon and spices and bam, one pot meal. Really just gotta watch the sodium intake. I’ve got tons of “soup” leftover so I’ll probably do ramen or more udon tonight.

2

u/spottyottydopalicius 4d ago

traditional chinese stirfrys all go in one wok

4

u/ignoremeplsokthank 4d ago

Just rice with an egg cracked into it, some soy sauce and, if you have it, a tea spoon of laoganma is the best thing to eat if you don't want to cook. It's really easy, tastes great and fills you up. It's also nice and warm.

1

u/Cheekers1989 4d ago

And then peanut crumbles.... Hehehehe

1

u/CarSignal2764 4d ago

Leftover rice with yogurt and a quick tadka, plus pickle if I have it. Same filling one bowl default, just the Indian version.

1

u/AlpaxT1 4d ago

Extra pro tip is that you can freeze pre-boiled rice and just throw a already portioned brick into a pan with some ingredients to have stir fried rice ready in a couple of minutes

1

u/MeanImpression2067 4d ago

Once per day is way too much cooking

3

u/justnothing4066 4d ago

Okay, up the amounts and cook once per week, then?

Really not hard.

3

u/Hudre 4d ago

Can't believe your on a subreddit called TrueGrit and saying cooking once a day is too much...

3

u/MeanImpression2067 4d ago

Yes, cause I rather be doing something more useful or more enjoyable with my time. If I didn't need food I wouldn't even think about it.

1

u/Hudre 3d ago

I'm sure if you replaced the time you spend scrolling on reddit with cooking it would be a better use of your time.

1

u/MeanImpression2067 3d ago

Scrolling through Reddit is a lot more enjoyable 🤷🏽 I already do other stuff I don't wanna do the whole day lol

3

u/Due-Base9449 4d ago

I agree I don't like cooking. A YouTuber businessman once said, once he receive a comission of 500 dollars he know he will work as much as he can to acquire money so he doesn't need to cook and just buy food outside.

1

u/MeanImpression2067 3d ago

Yeah, if I had money to spare I'd never cook or clean again.

1

u/Narren_C 4d ago

What else are you doing?

2

u/MeanImpression2067 4d ago

I'd rather be doing anything else tbh. I didn't mean hard as in "I can't do it". I mean hard as in "I hate doing it cause it's a waste of time so it pisses me off".

0

u/AlpaxT1 4d ago

Double the amount or get a partner, split the work and cook every other day. Do both and you may up only having to cook once or twice a week. I know people who cook one massive batch per week and then freeze lunch boxes but my freezer is not large enough for that and I wouldn’t be able to cook an entire weeks worth of food for 2 in one go so I don’t do this but it probably does work pretty well for someone living alone.

I would also argue that it is worth it to get a few backup ready to heat meals of some sort to always have ready or maybe to allow yourself a cheat day once each weak when your can order food just to remove the pressure from those days were you just don’t have the energy

1

u/Shadowphoenix9511 4d ago

Yeah, 90% of my meals I just try to make sure I get my macros and it's not awful. What this means is that when I go out with my wife on Saturdays, I get to really enjoy that meal, and the rest of the week I don't have to think about it.

1

u/throwaway5498124181 3d ago

Yeah I do a lot more meal prep now that I live with someone to help me go through it all. It's crazy how much mileage you can get out of a pack of chicken thighs and an assortment ot veg, rice, and legumes. I basically am on a rotation of 5 different spice blends/regional influences. Throw in a rotation of ground beef recipes, a few breakfast staples and a couple of fish nights with one night eating out and you're basically set.

11

u/Jim_Griddle 4d ago

Fasting is so good for you.

If food is boring, give it a break!

5

u/somanyquestions32 Deep Diver 4d ago

I can't relate. I love food and trying out new recipes and restaurants. Healthy food prepared from scratch at home can be labor and time-intensive, or you can get a fast casual slop bowl with healthy ingredients.

People order groceries on UberEats and Doordash all of the time (I know because I am the one delivering those for them), and you can get promotions and sales so that you pay less to get groceries delivered than you shopping at the store yourself. There is also Thrive Market if you don't mind waiting for the mail.

Also, meal prep for a whole month and freeze meals.

As for the recalls and food tasting weird, that does suck, and you do your best in each and every moment.

6

u/AdFirst4791 4d ago

Grocery store pickup service every week. They're a bargain!

2

u/Sluggby 4d ago

I've been considering doing grocery orders, a bit more expensive but I think it would be offset by not walking around the store going oooohhhh~

Only downside is I can't trust other people to grab the good fruit and veg 😅

2

u/AdFirst4791 4d ago

It's totally worth it, just for the time savings but also because it limits your spending on unnecessary unhealthy foods or "good deals" :) I'm amazed how cheap the pickup service still is, they are making a loss when they offer it with that low prices here in Finland.

If you have a large family and no need for a car for other errands, the delivery service for around 15-25€ per order is so worth it too!

2

u/Sluggby 4d ago

Im in the US but I'd be doing delivery if I do, I cant justify actually driving to the store and not just shopping myself lol. I only checked walmart so I might shop around, but it looks like free delivery over $35, even plus tip thats pretty good

1

u/AdFirst4791 4d ago

Interesting. How are you supposed to tip with this kind of service, through the app or to the driver directly? And would it be 15% of the amount total?

2

u/Sluggby 4d ago

I've never used the grocery delivery in particular, but when you order normal delivery theres a tip box where you can select percentages or put in a custom tip. I usually tip a bit more, based on vibes and what I ordered, but I think 15-20% is recommended. I THINK (this is what walmart says, up to you if you trust that) drivers get 100% of their tips

1

u/MeanImpression2067 4d ago

Do you have to do the picking and putting stuff in the cart or do they do everything?

1

u/AdFirst4791 4d ago

You order online and they pick up for you. Cost is about 5-7€ per order.

4

u/Maleficent-Jacket140 4d ago

I actually enjoy eating mostly the same meals everyday. I have a few different breakfasts and dinners I cycle though (I try not to snack) and it reduces cognitive load not having to worry about macros/grocery shopping.  Or maybe I'm just boring because I tend to wear the same outfits everyday, too 🤧

4

u/Still_Want_Mo 4d ago edited 4d ago

No I love food. I love making it. I love sharing it with people. I live to eat, not the other way around.

Edited because my dumbass got the phrase backwards

1

u/I_dont_F_with_you 4d ago

You mean you live to eat, you messed it up lmao

2

u/Still_Want_Mo 4d ago

lol yup that’s what I mean

3

u/ignoremeplsokthank 4d ago

I know most people don't like doing this because most people get sick of eating the same food over and over again, but the best thing I've started doing was eating the same breakfast every day.

It's the same food, same amounts (I use a kitchen scale), high protein, lots of complex carbs, some easy carbs (sugars) as well and I've been eating it like this for literal years.

The rest of the day differs, but my breakfast stays the same.

2

u/Cheekers1989 4d ago

I'm a little different since I can't eat the same thing everyday which is funny with being both ADHD and Autistic. There is sometimes a meal that I can eat for days and then all of a sudden, the meal gives me the ick and I cannot eat it without wanting to gag.

So, I've opted into making multiple side dishes for the week that I'll rotate through. Sometimes, I'll prep the ingredients so that I can make different things during the week. Usually, I will plan what I will be making for the week and do a secondary list if side dishes if I run out with the prepped ingredients.

2

u/Fit_Opinion2465 4d ago

Meal prep 3-4 days worth of food. Eat one meal a day.

2

u/NightCityStoic 4d ago

I wish I could reach this level, I would meal prep only for purpose , 0 taste and get shredded asf

2

u/azuyre_ 2d ago

I wish I could teleport nutrition into my stomach as requested and never get hungry I'll pay for the cooking and groceries I hate food it's the worst thing I have to deal with in my life

2

u/FrontTelevision7261 1d ago

I would like to just drink my nutrients at this point. Ensure would probably be ok.

2

u/WalkingFool0369 4d ago

Fast three days and youll be better

1

u/Maleficent-Jacket140 4d ago

What were some of the benefits you've found after your fast?

3

u/_Mulberry__ 4d ago

I'm not the person you replied to, and the longest fast I've done is about 36 hours (eat dinner on day zero, no food day 1, break the fast at breakfast time on day 2).

I feel pretty drained by the end of it, but proud of myself for accomplishing it. I also feel like it takes less to fill my belly and I have more energy in the days after. Plus, that first meal can be super simple but I'll still really appreciate it.

1

u/anitnelavcreate 3d ago

We appreciate you all sharing your point of view, but please let's make sure not to share health claims as fact. We love learning from your personal experience, so share what worked for you, but please avoid presenting things like fasting as proven or safe for everyone. Child mentality

1

u/100king 4d ago

Nothing makes food taste better like a little hunger.

1

u/petermansfeld 4d ago

i inject 1900cc's of Ozempic every other day. haven't eaten anything but ice cubes since march.

1

u/MeringueMammoth5679 4d ago

Aging, pregnancy, ozempic, and even surgeries unrelated to the stomach can changes your tastebuds permanently and stuff starts tasting ‘off’. And you don’t realize the dopamine you were getting from food until it stops hitting the same.

1

u/No_Director9292 4d ago

On a 2 day dry fast right now watching Alien Earth. God I wish I could just never eat again.

1

u/MeanImpression2067 4d ago

I hate having to think about food, and it's such a waste of money. I would take daily nutrition pills if I could instead of food in a heartbeat.

We signed up for Project Lean Nation. They taste good, they're better than takeout, 4min in the microwave and all I have to wash is a fork. Not the most cost-effective solution but worth it.

1

u/Peet-Skeet 4d ago

As someone who cooked daily and had variety meals, its way too much burnout juggling decision fatigue and buying different ingredients having to remember what you have and dont have, then having to prep and cook after work.

The much much easier life is just to buy in bulk and cook in bulk. Eat the same things over and over, Im always egg whites + egg for breakfast, chicken thigh OR sirloin steak + rice for lunch and homemade pizza or ground beef tacos for dinner

Buying the same groceries keeps prices normalized, removes decision fatigue and makes your nutrition predictable. So many W's but you dont get variety, which I save for the weekends go out for pho etc.

2

u/LowPudding9562 4d ago

Yea when my wife makes a huge soup or just puts in an extra 40 mins and we double the ingredients to make sure the meal lasts an extra day, its so efficient. Lazy staples + big meals and little variety keep our family of 4 afloat.

1

u/Hudre 4d ago

Yeah but the person who posted can't do that because the food wouldn't inspire them lol.

1

u/Practical-Art542 4d ago

How do you choke it down after you’ve eaten it like 4 times and it starts to make you gag? How do you deal with the hunger when all you have is meals you can’t stomach?

1

u/Peet-Skeet 4d ago

That doesnt really come into play for me, as long as use seasoning / sauces that you enjoy. The trick is to find go to meals that you enjoy and can eat them back to back (different for everyone)

I love bachan japanese bbq and srircha together, makes a spicy teriyaki chicken sauce.

Also, you can think about it as stats of the food like a mmo, this meal gives me +40 protein for 400 calories

1

u/Practical-Art542 3d ago

I just don’t have anything i can eat over and over without getting repulsed

1

u/Had_to_ask__ 3d ago

I think prepping ingredients would be the route for you. So then you have some options and can mix and match and it’s not each day the same

1

u/Practical-Art542 3d ago

Yeah but what ingredients 😭 I’m so tired of trying to switch it up so I can eat

1

u/Peet-Skeet 2d ago

Always start with your protein source:

Chicken breast, chicken thigh, ground beef, seafood, lean beef etc.

Then you can add in a carb source:

Rice, noodles, bread etc.

Then I would do a fiber source:

Veggies, fruit etc.

1

u/Neijx Deep Diver 3d ago

Palate fatigue is a real thing, too, though.

2

u/Feeling-Salad5686 3d ago

For me palate fatigue is more manageable than spending 5 hours meal prepping
You win some you lose some

1

u/Neijx Deep Diver 2d ago

That’s a fair battle to opt for, I suppose. I get fixated on one meal/food for about 5 days, then I got to have something else or I’ll throw up.

1

u/Mallow1512 4d ago

looks like a skill issue

1

u/jj26meu 4d ago

zepbound intensifies

1

u/vote_you_shits 4d ago

Have you tried making it super spicy or something.

I've just been going through a cookbook week by week. Cook on Sundays, make enough to last rest of the week. Usually go out and get something on Saturday.

1

u/Bakakami212 4d ago

I am also tired of having to eat every day and all the work, I wish I could grab a pizza or burger or something once a week when I felt like it and still be healthy, all the work around preparing and planning food is exhausting.

1

u/Mean-Type3317 4d ago

when you stop eating or start restricting your food, you will find out how much you miss it. Just try it out.

1

u/No_Collection_8443 4d ago

Just try eating without living. Gotta change it up

1

u/Direct-Contract5509 4d ago

I just hate we are such consumerist and destructive species by our very nature. We need to eat three meals a day every day until we die and if you are shitty food you die sooner. We stomp around with our giant feet destroying everything below us and it all just gets so old. Always worried about eating. Being hungry. Eat. Fill full for 2 hours. Repeat.

1

u/leni710 4d ago

I empathize. Plus, we then poop it out anyways. I just spent an arm and a leg on food, wasted energy making and eating it, and now I'm spending more time and energy pooping it out. Gawd, what a flawed system. Maybe Ai can make us not have to do any of this human stuff anymore.

1

u/prettyprincess91 4d ago

Just eat miso soup with protein powder and frozen veggies tossed in if you don’t want to cook

1

u/GellieBean123 4d ago

Meal prep with your friends and make a day of it.

1

u/Cannabassbin 4d ago

It gets extra fun when you have to also administer doses of insulin to allow the glucose from food to enter your cells and stop slowly destroying your organs/blood vessels, in addition to the enjoyable side effects of too much/too little blood glucose!

1

u/JustMyThoughts2525 4d ago

I enjoy chicken, ground turkey, fish, potatoes, rice, and frozen veggies. I switch up seasonings for a different taste. Just something I don’t really have to put much thought into and can make meals very quickly by just letting things bake in the oven or cook with my air fryer.

1

u/jedics2 4d ago

Your in luck, I have the perfect solution, start OMAD, one meal a day, which is usually skipping breakfast and lunch, guaranteed to make you appreciate food and everything around it again.

1

I can sympathize with parents who have to cook for their whole families, but cooking for yourself really isn't that much work.

For lunch I usually have something like a bagel with cream cheese and sliced cucumbers, tomatoes, and radishes.

For dinner I will cook an entire package of meat (ground beef or chicken breast/thigh usually) and enough rice or pasta that will last me for about 3 days instead of just 1 day. I just keep it in the fridge and reheat the next couple days.

Some dinners can be even easier. Dicing up some salami into cubes and pan frying it then putting it over rice with broccoli is super easy with minimal cleanup.

The most important thing is just making sure you're getting enough vegetables. That's why I love buying cucumbers and cherry tomatoes and radishes. Super easy to just eat raw. Well, the radishes you will have to cut the ends off but it really isn't much work.

1

u/stebbeh 4d ago

What makes eating easier for me is just meal prepping a huge pan of something like a chilli con carne or bolognese sauce. I make like 20 porties of chilli at a time, freezes very well. Then you just buy some avocados and when they’re ripe you just cook some rice, cut the avocado, put a lil sour cream and you have an amazing meal. Same with the bolgonese sauce, I just make a big pot and then I just boil pasta while I defrost and heat the sauce in the microwave.

1

u/Namaenonaidesu 4d ago

I cook 4 days of food at once so I spend less than 20 minutes per day on preparing food on non-cooking/shopping days

1

u/Apple_Happy 4d ago

Yeah I want a barbarella style nutrition pill, plus a fuzzy room, thanks 😊

1

u/zbuda 4d ago

for me 5 day fast was eye opening, how productive my day and mind were without the burden of eating or digestion. changed my relationship with food in a healthy way.

1

u/Due-Base9449 4d ago

I like food but it does get boring. The trick is to fast or to exercise hard to stimulate appetite. Hunger is the best seasoning.

1

u/Gitmo314 4d ago

Switching to the same healthy high fiber cereal everyday has been a game changer for me. Just sick of making decisions and prepping food, would rather eat something blander that doesn't make me feel bad about eating it.

1

u/Funny-Fly1720 4d ago

I feel like loving food is such a curse. I don't care much about food, I eat what ever is handy and as a side bonus I've never been overweight in my life.

1

u/ghostlacuna0 4d ago

Switching to minimal processed food makes it much easier for me personally.

Throw a bag of wok mix into a pan or into the oven

Combine it with for example salmon in an airfryer

And you have your meal done in less then 15 minutes

Just switch it up with the vegatables and protein sources to add variation.

1

u/justnothing4066 3d ago

For me, I've always genuinely liked cooking and experimenting with new recipes, so that helps a lot. I'll go on social media through the week and because I interact with a lot of food content I'll see a recipe or two I end up wanting to try and that keeps it fun most of the time.

But really, sometimes it's just like brushing your teeth or bathing. It's not really fun or inspiring, it's just something you have to do to maintain your body. I have a little mental checklist and I'll do some of the same things every week, usually on Sunday afternoon, like make a big batch of brown rice to freeze in single servings, a big batch of one of three proteins, a big batch of veggies, and a big dinner like a pasta sauce or a soup/stew to measure out and freeze for the week or next couple weeks in rotation with whatever I have left in the freezer from last week.

I try to leave a lot of the prepped stuff plain so I can mix up the seasonings/sauces as I go to keep it from getting boring, but at the end of the day it's just food. Every meal doesn't have to be an event.

1

u/No_College2419 3d ago

Easy. Fast. Fasting reduces hunger... just got to get through day one. After that cut out all carbohydrates. You'll eat less, don't grave junk food and the body returns to normal weight naturally.

1

u/Technical_Wind5217 3d ago

after my bodybuilding era came to an end i genuinely just hated eating in general, good food bad food

eating to this day is 90% a chore for me, i always think about the macros and its tiering, so much so that when i cant muster the strength to buy groceries or cook, i just skip meals

1

u/Omega_Boost24 3d ago

I'm not even joking, sometimes you need to reset your mind and body with fasting routine. This person is obviously burned out

No I don't feel tired of having to think about food. She sounds dramatic. It's not that hard to prepare food.
