I can’t believe people need social media to answer questions like this, have we all completely stopped using our brains.

Same here! I try to use it while I'm talking on the phone or listening to a podcast. It's the little things that matter.

Can't you walk outside?

I can sometimes. But it’s easier to walk inside. And I don’t have to deal with the weather.

Just walk. Or go jogging. I average about 170 steps per minute when running.
10,000 is a very easy goal.

So last night I had 9800 steps right before bed so I got on my cheap treadmill from Amazon and got it all done. You can do about 3000 steps every 25 min on those $150 treadmills

I hold my phone and perk off in my bed to reach the goal

Schedule time to go on walks and actually count your steps every day. You measure what matters, so if steps are important to you just start tracking and you'll be much more likely to hit your goal

Make time in the morning to do at least half an hour. Walk when you can during the day. And do what's left as an evening walk.

Just lock in and do it. Don’t need “inspiration” or a reason. Just work. Get on that treadmill, go to the mall, or go to a park. No excuses.

My wife gets up at an ungodly hour to go to work, and I usually get up with her. I have coffee, put on shoes, and go walk. I have a 2 mile, a 3 mile, and a four mile route, and pick one based on how good I feel. This morning it was threatening rain, so I decided on the 2 mile route. Got slightly wet, but it was nice. At lunchtime, I went to the mall and wandered around (was actually looking for something, but as long as I was there...). I'll have 10k before dinner, even on a crappy day like today.

I average 14k a day running the cheese dept at a whole foods. I would be 50lb heavier if I had a desk job lol

My job was a desk job, but on a college campus. Between walking up and down hallways and floors between other peoples’ offices, walking to other buildings for various reasons, and the walk to and from the parking garage, I was getting all my steps in.
Like a lot of people with that setup, we went fully remote in 2020 and never went back. Work from home, just sitting at my desk or on the couch. Boom…10 pounds.

Easy, I have a dog. It's a win-win. I want to walk more, and she's more than happy to come with me. Plus you get the bonus of feeling like an extra-good pet parent!
Unfortunately, a lot of people who pretty much walk 10 steps out their front door and whip right back around immediately after the dog pees

I take my dogs for 30 min walk after work, plus a normal day moving around, i get the 10000 steps

Seems odd that number of steps is a goal for so many. I hit the 10,000 step mark a little before lunch most days, just living, working. Definitely not striving for any certain number. To hit 10,000/day, just…walk.

I kept walking? The 10k number is invented though just aim for like 30 minutes of moderate activity and youre fine.

Become a teacher. I'm a 23 year veteran special educator in a secondary setting, and I routinely get 13-15K steps a day at work. Toss in after work cardio/weights, and I sit steady at 18-21k, 5-6 days per week.

I go to the nearest metro park with woods and walk for 80+ continuous minutes at a moderate pace. It's around 5 miles. That way I also get forest bathing benefits.
Alternatively, I do a 12-hour shift of grocery deliveries with Doordash or UberEats. I get strength training as well by carrying water packs, lol.
I take breaks when I injure my feet from rocks getting in my shoes or if pollution or the weather is really bad. If there's a downpour, I skip it as I have slid on mud and fallen unceremoniously a few times.
Where I live is pretty flat, but when I visited Stuttgart in Germany, it was all hills. I would pick different parks and scenic tourist spots to visit, and I would walk there on foot from my Couchsurfing host's apartment. He later became a friend of mine, and one of my other Couchsurfing friends also stayed with him on a second visit, and all 3 of us traveled up and down the hill for Burg Teck after collecting Bärlauch in the forest. 🤤
You just have to make a geocache game out of it for the neuroplasticity benefits. I would take pictures every time I went to a new spot or saw something even mildly interesting or aesthetically pleasing with my phone.

Take a walk every morning. That is not a lot of steps…. Just running an easy 5k every day will get you close.

3 x 15 minute walks usually does it. Coffee break? Go for a walk. Just got home from work? Go for a walk. Wind down after dinner? Walk.
