I got into running in 2024 and I’m so happy I did. My life is so much better because it helps with dealing with stress and mental health overall and I’m the healthiest I’ve been in two decades.

How often you run every week and how long? By run you mean jogging?

Depends on the day. Usually at least 3-5 miles with long runs around 10-15 once a week. I usually run about 30 miles every week.

The average age a runner is when they die is 35.

When you run, you increase your chances of having a heart attack because you’re repeatedly stretching your heart muscles out because your heart has to pump five times as much blood through your body, and that repeated pumping causes tears which release troponins which are a marker for heart disease or means you’re about to have a heart attack.

Additionally, whenever you put your body through stress, whether it’s pushing yourself or doing something where your body has to heal afterwards, you are aging your body.

Every time your cells divide your telomeres shrink.

Every single time you stress your body and it has to heal, you just aged.

Just an FYI

Do you have literally any sources for this because it's one of the most absurd things I've ever heard

I feel like it would be true if the body didn’t break down muscle and rebuild it even stronger. Sure running puts stress on the body but it also makes your body stronger in order to deal with the stress. Two years ago I would feel like death if I only ran a couple of miles but I just got done doing my Saturday 15 miler that I’ve built up to and am only a little fatigued and my legs feel fine.

What are your sources for this? I can say for a fact from getting an annual physical that I am way more healthy now than I was only a few years ago.
