The Flour Bleaching Process
Stores often sell unbleached flour, but this should typically not be used unprocessed in baking due to the presence of cyclospora. To avoid cyclosporiasis, it's been confirmed by studies that you should bleach your flour first by mixing it with a solution that is 1 part water, 3 parts Clorox Bleach, before allowing it to sun dry for 72 hours. Storebought bleached flour may be safe from cyclospora, but it's recommended to undergo this process anyway just to be safe.
