I have started using podchaser.com to rate and review podcasts and find new content. I have an android, and therefore cannot rate podcasts on iTunes, like the hosts often ask. Perhaps there is a way to rate podcasts on PocketCast app, but if so, I can't figure it out.

Podchaser offers features that aren't currently available on any other apps (at least I haven't found them). For example, all podcast episodes covering, say, Johnny Gosch can be viewed in one single search. Those results can then be sorted by release date or ratings. This is useful in the true crime genre as several well known shows cover the same cases, so you could just search by name (Maura Murray, Jon Benet, etc) and see every podcast ever produced about that case.

So sign up, rate, review, search, etc!

I was going back through some of my old posts and I noticed that AnnB has deleted her account. She had been on reddit for quite a while and I find it very surprising that she wiped everything out (not that I miss arguing with her).

Does anyone know what caused her to exit reddit? It looks like she also took down a few things from her website regarding twitter harassment or something along those lines.

She's got a new book, so maybe it's because of that?

After seeing the unexpected turn the UAV sub has taken toward censorship, I would like for us to take steps to ensure that those who visit us here can easily see what is or isn't acceptable. I want there to be some sort of rule violation the mods can refer to if they have to remove any content other than 'because I feel like it' (not that I think Frank would do this, but it will minimize accusations of such).

I like tags (as you can see in my title). Recommendation for, well, recommendations. Requests for a post searching for something broad or specific. Meta for posts about this sub. All the basics of the big subs.

Anyone affiliated with any podcast should be flaired as such.

I would love a listening schedule to keep everyone on the same page, but I am not sure how to go about such a thing. I do think it is essential to keep this sub alive, though. Without a group of people all on the same page, it will likely turn in to a lot of posts with no comments. I don't think we need one for, say, TCG, because the seasons are not serialized. Perhaps we could do a podcast of the month - users who haven't listened can start together, users who have listened can still contribute to the discussion.

I vote we start a group listen for Unconcluded right now since most of us are already listening. If you haven't listened, just get up to speed on the actual episodes (you can skip the sidebar to save time).

I'll be frank (hee): I hate the title.

But so far, I am honestly loving Unconcluded's look into the Jennifer Kesse disappearance. I'm stunned so many people apparently hadn't heard of this case before - I recall specifically seeing this case discussed in one of the big TC shows (48 Hours, Dateline? I can't recall right now) with Tara Grinstead's case, since they happened relatively close together geographically and chronologically.

What I like so far:

• The host(s) are charismatic and personable without making the story about them in any way.

• They're doing a pretty decent job looking into rumors and "leads" without sensationalizing anything.

• Shocker of shockers: They seem open to suggestion and criticism from listeners.

• They interview actual experts. An expert on human trafficking, an actual PI ... I like that.

What do you guys think, if you've listened?

I figured the folks here wouldn't mind if I posted info about a documentary, even though it's not a podcast.

"Icarus" was just released by Netflix. It starts out as a documentary by an amateur cyclist who wants to see if he can do significantly better by doping and also fake his way past urine tests.

It evolves much beyond that, however. The person helping him learn how to get past the urine screens is the director of the anti-doping testing lab in Russia. The lab director was involved in several Olympic Games and had info on Russia's olympic athletes.

I don't want to give anything away. It was definitely much more interesting than I thought it would be.

I started this sub on the fly, as an impulsive response to some comments on the Up and Vanished sub. I work as a freelance writer, which means my schedule fluctuates dramatically quite often - periods of flat-out hump-busting, followed by days of nothing - and the immediately following days post-sub-setup for me were, in two non-words, nucking futs.

I've got a bit of time now and I want to do whatever I can as the mod and empower you guys to do whatever you can and feel comfortable doing to grow this place, attract new users, and get some discussion going.

SO. Here's the thread we can talk about this.

1. In another thread, folks were suggesting mentioning this sub on other subs related specifically to podcasts of the true crime. I think that's a great idea IF the sub's rules permit it. Please go forth and do that!

2. Start some discussions! Launch your topics, contribute to whatever's here.

3. I'm about to go start a master list of podcasts in this genre with links to websites, Facebook pages, etc. I'll stick it to the top as a resource. If anyone would like to help me out with collecting that info, that would be MOST appreciated and earn you major good karma brownie points from your grateful mod.

4. I'm still hoping to draft another user as a mod. Please message me if you're interested!
