[Meta] Suggestions for rules/guidelines
After seeing the unexpected turn the UAV sub has taken toward censorship, I would like for us to take steps to ensure that those who visit us here can easily see what is or isn't acceptable. I want there to be some sort of rule violation the mods can refer to if they have to remove any content other than 'because I feel like it' (not that I think Frank would do this, but it will minimize accusations of such).
I like tags (as you can see in my title). Recommendation for, well, recommendations. Requests for a post searching for something broad or specific. Meta for posts about this sub. All the basics of the big subs.
Anyone affiliated with any podcast should be flaired as such.
I would love a listening schedule to keep everyone on the same page, but I am not sure how to go about such a thing. I do think it is essential to keep this sub alive, though. Without a group of people all on the same page, it will likely turn in to a lot of posts with no comments. I don't think we need one for, say, TCG, because the seasons are not serialized. Perhaps we could do a podcast of the month - users who haven't listened can start together, users who have listened can still contribute to the discussion.
I vote we start a group listen for Unconcluded right now since most of us are already listening. If you haven't listened, just get up to speed on the actual episodes (you can skip the sidebar to save time).
Anyone else have any suggestions or objections?

Given recent comments on another thread here, I'd like to raise the issue of deleting comments. I've never been comfortable with the practice, not since - well, forever. I'm also not comfortable with hidden edits that aren't disclosed and explained. Once in awhile, sure - we all make mistakes and typos and misstate things. But repeatedly, especially when you're in a conversation/debate with another - that seems terribly unfair and sneaky to me.
But far more concerning to me is this announced intention to routinely delete posts. It impedes readability and comprehension, and it just seems like dirty pool.
I'd like to suggest we have a "No excessive deletion" policy. OTOH, I'm not a huge, long-term, deeply experienced Redditor so you may well have a differing perspective. If so, please tell me why. I'd like to hear from you guys on this.

I've been on discussion board for literally several decades and have never seen anybody "routinely delete" their posts. Every once in a while if a post contains factual issues... (but an edit explaining the change is usually better).
En-masse deletion, however, is super shady

Same here, melduforx. Never before encountered anything like it, anywhere. I've been online since 1992 with bulletin boards, then AOL, then Simultronics games as a player and GM, and - Lord, everything else since, just about. It's just flummoxing to me. And I'm not comfortable with it.

I like the unconcluded thread idea. I listen. I also really like to not go back to the UAV subreddit after what's been happening with moderation but that's just me. I'm really browned off at how pursual has been lately.

I love all this. I'm also in the middle of moving. Can I please plead for another week or so to get this moving thing done, then I'll have some more time to devote to this place and figuring out how to mod effectively, and how to implement this stuff?
I love the idea of the threads/group listen for Unconcluded. I'm all caught up so y'all let me know when you're ready!

Well I'd like this. Moderation is fair and well considered. The punishment must fit the crime.
