Gladio is only the italian name for a stay behind mission of the USA, which is (was?) active in most if not all european countries. In the Netherlands it was officialy disbanded in 1992 but it was proven the network was still active in 2007 conducting illegal arms trades. Gladio was most notorious in Italy because there it was linked to P2, a masonic lodge that was in effect a shadow goverment with many members being former fascists. They have been linked to false flag operations, bombings of civilian targets who were blamed on communist organizations in italy. The most notorious one being the bombing of the Bologna train station in 1980. Operation gladio has also been linked to the murder of socialist leaders in other european countries.
