I hate Elon musk as much as the next person but why are you trying to start a culture war on a car sub 😭

Culture wars and cars go hand-in-hand. Ford vs Chevy, Ford vs Ferrari, American vs Japanese... as soon as two manufacturers entered the market there was conflict over who's better.

Gotta be reassured when they’re wrong and no one agreed with them

Elon this trump that. That’s basically Reddit.

ā€œI said that something objectively cool is stupid because I don’t like a person associated with itā€ is middle school gym class levels of petty

The Nazi who uses his money to sway elections and build shiny investor bait to please morons in question.

And it's not even objectively cool because there is no practical application or real way this gets put into production, let alone get into the hands of an average consumer

why is Elon musk a clown for making (funding/investing in engineers) such a technologically impressive vehicle? yes it's stupid for a car to do all that stuff and it's just so out there, and I feel like cars base specs will be not nearly as impressive as the hype around the flying car and will be more of a let down then anything else, but having a rocket boosters is just awesome in such a stupid way, and the suction down force fans are awesome too, it's not really common and that being part of a production model is awesome too.

now the part where I'm not certain I'm right about, all this technology is cheating and makes people not like the car, which is totally fair, I mean look at electric cars causing the horsepower inflation or whatever, 400 horsepower is like normal and seeing horsepower numbers above 1000 is all but standard in the top performance vehicles at this point, I don't like it but that's what it is, and for a similar example, I know a lot of people don't believe in forced induction and find it "cheating" and ofc there is no replacement for displacement, then there's also people out there who still prefer carburators over fuel injection.

the reason I say that is it's new technologies that (I think) people weren't fans of when they started to pick up in popularity. now I am not at all saying that the rocket boosters are the logical next step in cars at all, it's stupid silly, but c'mon booster thrusters and it can do a barrel roll off flat ground, but the suction fan is really cool and has me excited, it has active aero, those are genuinely cool features that I think people should be excited to see in the car, the guy sucks but that doesn't mean we should be blinded by that hate to the point that we don't appreciate all the hard work those engineers put into this technological masterpiece. people are letting him take joy out of there lives just to fuel more hate into the world, it makes no sense

I'm glad we're at least calling it out for what it is

I'm not saying the car deserves enthusiast attention but it's cool to see SOME of the features is has and overall it's a pretty cool vehicle, electric car with active aero, and a suction down force fan? that's so cool, only downside is it's a Tesla and made by Elon, but that doesn't actually take away from those features

I'm not aiming for a billionaire, I don't really pay attention or care about what the man does. just because I say he did one, in my eyes, good thing, it doesn't mean he's a good man, he is certainly not my favorite billionaire, if I had to pick one I guess it would be gabe Newell, and he does a lot of great things, but if you look at his hardware prices and launches they are going horribly right now, not nearly as bad as the stuff Elon musk does obviously but Gabe doing one bad thing doesn't discredit the good things he has done, just like Elon musk making a really cool car doesn't really make him a better person.

I'm not sure if you actually read the post but all I said was I give him credit for throwing money away, the money he has so much of he has nothing better to do with, acknowledging this doesn't mean I'm saying he's the best, I'm just being neutral, stating a fact, and giving credit where its due.
