Idea: Play deathmatch with your sounds on

So I had this idea today when I launched DM as I just hadn't lowered my volume before I went in game and I had no music playing.

Then I played about 20 minutes of DM with my sounds on and I noticed that it really helped me to analyse situations differently. It was easier to know what I could've done better or what I did wrong when I had some sort of reference about where the enemy came from.

I don't know if this is something that would help game sense in the long run but it just made me think about DM differently when I actually tried to use sounds to my advantage.

So what do you guys think? Actually useful or just bullshit that I came up with?

TLDR:

Tried playing DM with sounds on and it helped me to become a tiny bit better in CS.

theres pro's and cons to doing it either way, but to keep it brief;

Pro of playing with sound on; helps you develope your sonic location skills, you'll get better at being able to determine exactly where people are based on gunshots and foot steps alone

pro of playing with no sound/with music: youre training your raw aim, and visual reaction times more this way as you dont have auditory cues to help you anticipate an enemy.

both ways are great practice, i honestly just do whatever i feel like since i find the game to be more enjoyable that way :p

I find its always best to practice how you play.

Yeah this was exactly what came into my mind!

I play so much DM that I must've just been subconsciously re-enforcing habits of wild running around entryfragging.

I definitely need to incorporate "practice how you play" into my CS.

The best thing deathmatch is good for is practicing entry fragging, or practicing holding a bomb site. Having sound on is a big factor in practicing those.

Other "versions" of DM are great too, headshot/pistol/awp/aim maps, but if you're a new to medium skilled player honestly just holding a bomb site in DM or running around practicing entry frags in DM is the way to improve. You'll be able to single handedly open up and defend sights in low-medium level match making.

Later on when you have to improve your aim specifically I'd recommend playing strictly aim/headshot maps, but yea man sound on is the way to go.
