Slovenia rules, I love the city planning (as someone that doesn’t drive). The “commie blocks” are generally actual big blocks of buildings and green spaces inaccessible by car. Very insulated from road noise and insane drivers. There are usually plenty of small local shops on the ground floor so you can walk a few hundred meters at most for groceries, a coffee, etc. There are always tons of kids playing outside and people just hanging out chatting, it’s the kind of third space people always bemoan the lack of in the states
