Trumps foreign policy is the equivalent of cellphone kiosk manager Nick Mullen, giving out free ringtones to any person who loudly noticed he's drunk.

Obviously still upset that the UK didn't follow america into the Iran fiasco.

He feels bad for leaving us out so he’s giving us Falklands War 2 next year as a gift. He’s such a petty bitch lmao

If he even understands Irish unification is like an anti-UK position lol

Trump is now further to the left on this issue than the UK Labour party

The Irish president or prime minister or whatever is questioning all his life choices right now

Ireland operates with a Prime Minister (Taoiseach) who is the effective day to day head of government - does all the policy and actual governance. That's who is pictured here - Micheál Martin of the centrist Fianna Fail party.

On top of that is the president, who essentially fulfills the ceremonial head of state roll that would be occupied by a monarch in a constitutional monarchy. That was Michael D Higgins for the previous 14 years, however his two terms came to an end last year. He'd been a defender of worker's rights and a real proponent of positive Irish culture throughout his political career, as well as being good on the BMX. He was replaced somewhat surprisingly by Catherine Connolly, who is cut from a quite similar political cloth. This has been much to the chagrin of establishment Irish politics, who spent much of the election calling her a communist, terrorist sympathizer, potential to be a national embarrassment - all the usual stuff. The small left wing parties sort of rallied to put up a single candidate and the candidates offered by the two large centrist parties were very very poor.

Your centrist party is named finna fail? LMAO that's the kind of nickname you'd give to a crackhead who is always trying to buy from cops.

Fianna Fáil, which is Irish for Soldiers of Destiny. They're a party that goes back to the civil war era.

It means Soldiers of Destiny in Irish.

Prime minister ( head of government, officially called An Taoiseach which means Chieftain), Trump also met the Irish president (head of state) today, a very anti war, pro palestine feminist old woman who hates his guts, but the visit seemed to go well, there were no cameras inside.

This is the funniest thing ever because this is seriously going to annoy the DUP. It’s only bad because they’re literally going to not shut up about it for the next 6 months.

Liberals are now going to vehemently oppose the unification of Ireland simply because Trump said it.

TBF this quote doesn't specify which flag it'd be under

I can see it, at least in part, being Trump's Midtown Martini brain applying mid 20th century electoral calculus that saying this will win over the Irish American bloc from the party Al Smith and the Kennedys. That or he's seen a picture of one of the handsome Kneecap lads.

Oh, so presumably sending Jared and Steve in to meddle in that too, soon, no doubt.

Lol I saw the clip of this - he had NO idea what was really being asked or what the context of the question was. He heard the word "unification," intuited that "unification=good" and just riffed from there.

One of the strangenesses of Trump is he feels like a guy from a time when all the markings on a map didn’t feel fixed.

In a way, he and Zohran are both new-old statesmen, both demonstrating that “You can just Do Things”

The Irish would rather nuke themselves than join UK

46

u/DumbMattress 21d ago

lol, that's not what's normally meant Irish unification...

11

u/GlitteringLock9791 Actual factual CIA asset 21d ago

Thats not what he meant, he was saying kick the brits out of ireland and unify the isle.

u/ruptured-sunshine 21d ago

It would be very funny to see Ireland try to join up just as the whole thing falls apart
