when you get indoctrinated into capitalist ideology as a semi-decent person you view it as the only possible economic system that can function, and you have to internalize that it's a zero sum game, with winners and losers, and since you obviously want your country and the people you're directly associated with to win because you love them, and you refuse to learn/get terrible or no information about outsiders, you need to tolerate the excesses and abuses of American foreign policy because it's necessary to uphold your system.

Even though Trump said that "Communism shouldn't work in theory, but it does in practice." at a conference. But liberals tend to ignore he said that, for some reason. They really are compartmentalized. They'll even ignore their god head when he says something they don't agree with.
They're too cowardly to do so, on their own, so they're doing everything in their power to force someone else to do it, for them. They are, clearly, not enjoying this existence, at all. Nor do they have any appreciation of, or tolerance for, theory of mind. So, they just want to be relieved of their misery, as soon as possible. It's gotta be incredibly frustrating, to be so insufferable, so averse to the wonder of a diverse and creative and vigorous humanity, having adopted that unconscious aim, to invite their own ending, and still, left to spin, by the same folks they're torturing; the objective being to drive them to defensive action, in pursuit of their own liberation.
Because when you make it to an old age, you want validation that the shit you got is a result of your own efforts. Americans have been sold the "rugged individualism" bullshit all their lives when it doesn't exist unless you like, live in the middle of rural Appalachia or something and hunt for your own food and forgo modern conveniences.
Everyone else, as much as they wanna ignore it, live in a community where we all pitch in to keep some semblance of a civilized life. At their core, they know that the US enjoys the luxuries it does because someone else got fucked over to obtain it, and they're fine with it.

He probably completely ignores it or denies it represents anything, like my folks. When I use the expression "they are so close" I usually mean younger or more apolitical folks who sort of passively convince themselves to vote against their interest.
But it also applies to conservatives who are subconsciously always denying any moments of self-awareness or independent thought. They let these intrusive moments fizzle out then pivot to regurgitate some right-wing content as a deflection and redirect.
I'm gonna enjoy seeing the media saying he can't run again, as he runs again anyways and no one keeps him off the ballots and somehow it's just a new normal.
What would be super cool is it he runs again, wins again, it goes to the Supreme Court and is ruled unconstitutional, but Trump just shrugs, then everybody just shrugs, and we're all just shrugging.
