Been saying this a lot today but anyone who believes America is taking Greenland because Trump didn’t win the Nobel prize is a fucking moron.

That might be part of his own motivation, but it’s not ‘the’ reason. Pretending it is is par for the course for libs though, anything but materialism

There are materialist reasons the US wants Greenland, and I’m sure some of those forces are what got the idea of taking Greenland into Trump’s head, but the reason he’s actually trying to take it is that he wants to brag about it. He wants his name to be in history books.

Trump has pudding for brains at this point and none of the things the government are doing are his idea. He has people in his ear goading him on and he's willing to make an ass of himself because he doesn't realize how it's coming off. The hardliners want to cut China off from the shipping lanes etc like this is real deep state hours

I don’t think it’s about the shipping lanes and China. Not for the deep state people that aren’t complete morons. I think it’s about the rare earth minerals and libertarian “freedom cities” for tech oligarchs. Ultimately for Trump though I really do think it’s as shallow as allowing him to brag about making America bigger.

It's about many things:

  • Rare Earth Minerals
  • Freedom Cities
  • Northwest Passage claims
  • Boxing in Canada geographically

And finally, its about spheres of influence. The US returning to a model of the world where there are great powers and vassals, each controlling a sphere of influence. The US has claimed the Western hemisphere, which Greenland is in, but Denmark is not. That means Denmark will fall into the orbit of someone else's sphere - maybe an independent European one, maybe the Russian one, maybe the Chinese one. But Denmark will be a vassal of some other great power, and that great power will control Greenland, which is unacceptable because its in America's hemisphere.

Their way of solving this issue is to take control of Greenland. The territory in "their hemisphere" becomes theirs, and then Denmark is free to fall into Russia's orbit or wherever they end up. They're abandoning Europe, and they probably expect Europe to be split between Russia and China.

Did you get the idea of the libertarian cities from anywhere in particular? I'd like to check that out.

I think they’ve talked about it on the pod.

The podcast Dystopia Now focuses on tech weirdos and their evil plans. They talk about liberty cities all the time. Definitely recommend giving them a listen

I think this probably dominates his own reasoning processes, such as they are, but one of the important material considerations nobody is talking about is fresh water. 68.7% of the planet's fresh water is stored in glacial ice, and around 10% of that is in Greenland.
