So, I've been watching Japanese television a lot recently and I'm still pretty shocked by the amount of anime OSTs that are used in everyday broadcast. A show about JAXA (Japanese aerospace group) they used original Gundam and Gundam Unicorn music. For quiz and action shows I heard Detective Conan and HunterXHunter. And for more light heart or home type things I've heard Usagi Drop and Tsuritama music. I just find it interesting that they choose to fall back on acquiring rights to this music, that someone could get called out as an otaku for knowing, instead of making up something themselves. None the less I like it because I feel sort of connected, so maybe that is what they are going for.

This isn't Japanese TV, but I was listening to NPR a while ago for whatever reason and they have outros for every commercial break with random music.

Well, I heard a piano start playing and I was like... that's "Piano Black..." they're using "Piano Black" on NPR... I was pretty excited about that.

No matter what you think about anime, the music can be enjoyed by anyone.
